“the LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
Our identity in Christ is so important. I just since the Lord is trying to tell His people how important it is in this season to know their “true” identity in Him. The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. How does he do this? By attacking our identity with lies, innuendos, falsehood, doubt and unbelief. The Bible clearly says there are, “difficult times ahead” (2 Timothy 3:1).
Your identity in Christ means recognizing and embracing who you are in God’s eyes, as a child of God, loved, forgiven, and part of Hs family, rather that relying on worldly definitions or self-imposed limitations.
Here’s a deeper look at what “identity in Christ” entails:
Core Concepts:
- God’s Perspective: It’s about understanding and accepting the truths God reveals about you, rather than what you or others might think.
- New Creation: Through faith in Christ, you are given a new identity as a child of God, adopted into His family.
- Unconditional Love: Your identity in Christ is rooted in God’s unwavering love and grace, regardless of your circumstances or actions.
- Forgiveness and Redemption: You are forgiven of your sins and redeemed from the power of darkness through Christ’s sacrifice.
- Purpose and Potential: Knowing your identity in Christ empowers you to live a life of purpose and fulfill the potential God has placed within you.
Examples of Identity in Christ:
- Child of God: You are a beloved child of God, worthy of His love and care.
- Heir of God: You are an heir to God’s kingdom and all its blessings.
- Joint-heir with Christ: You share in Christ’s inheritance and reign with Him.
- New Creature: You are a new creation in Christ, transformed by His Spirit.
- Righteousness of God: You are made righteous through Christ’s sacrifice.
- Healed and Made Rich: You are healed and made rich in Christ’s grace.
- Free from Sin: You are free from the power of sin through Christ’s victory.
How to Strengthen Your Identity in Christ:
- Study God’s Word: Immerse yourself in the Bible to learn about God’s character and His truths about you.
- Pray Regularly: Communicate with God and seek His guidance and strength.
- Seek Fellowship: Connect with other believers and share your faith and experiences.
- Live Out Your Faith: Live in a way that reflects your identity in Christ, showing love, compassion, and grace to others.
- Remember God’s Promises: Reflect on God’s promises and declarations about you to strengthen your faith and identity

Embracing your identity will be of utmost importance to fulfill our purpose in Him. Several years ago I became interested in knowing what my name (s) and the names of my two sons meant. I was elated to learn that my name (Aleatha) meant ‘truth’ and my middle name meant ‘free.’
Your identity is not wrapped up in some else’s identity. Each one of us is unique and intricately put together by God. He knows your name, He sees your life, and He cares about the inner desires of your heart. God doesn’t see as man sees. He can see things about you that no one else can see. Deep things. Hidden things. You know, those inner thoughts and desires that your family and friends have no idea are even floating around in your heart and mind. “the LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
