Walk in Love, Light and Wisdom

As tensions among political parties continue to rise, Christians must be aware of the spirit of division, not only in politics, but in the church.

It’s no secret that there’s a great deal of animosity between liberals and conservatives in America. Interestingly, both Democrats and Republicans think the other party is a threat to the “nation’s well-being”.

There is nothing wrong with being patriotic, but our first allegiance as Christians should be to God the Father and His righteousness. We are to seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness first above all that we seek. Christ is neither Democrat or Republican. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.”

As pondered this I was shown that the love of many had grown cold. Matthew 24:12 , “And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.”

Matthew 24 sheds some light on the signs of the end times and the deception that will spread throughout the earth. Yet, we are not to fear.

I urge you to beware of the ‘political leaven’ that is rampantly spreading.  Choose righteousness! Be imitators of God as His dear children. Walk in love, as Christ also has loved you and given Himself for you, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2

The church is called to walk in light so that others may see the glory of the Lord. Ephesians 5:8-14, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,

Arise from the dead,

And Christ will give you light.”

These are evil times. In times of darkness, we must choose to walk in wisdom. Ephesians 5:15-21 encourages the believer not to be unwise, but but understand what the will of the Lord is in these uncertain times. We are instructed to walk circumspectly, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. To be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

The world needs to witness the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ so that many will be bought into the kingdom, fulfilling God’s plan for redemption of mankind.
