The Transformative Power of Unity in Christ | Biblical Reflection

I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word, that they may all be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:20-22 NASB).

Jesus prayed before going to the cross:

I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word, that they may all be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:20-22 NASB).

This chapter contains the prayer of the Lord just before going to the cross. In this great prayer Jesus prays for Himself, His disciples, and for all believers. Christ does not pray that they might be rich and great in the world, but that we will be safeguarded from harm, strengthened in our faith, and brought safe to heaven. He prayed that the Church would be one, just as He and the Father are one. And that the Church may be in them so that the world would believe that He was sent by the Father.

I believe when we (the Church) remembers that we are all one in Christ, baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:12–13, NLT), our spiritual connection unites us into one faith and one family we will make a greater impact on this world. “For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all” (Ephesians 4:4–6, NLT).
