As a nation, we must confront America’s chronic problem of racism. We need to highlight how absurd it is for the nation to try to be sincerely religious. At the same time, it stubbornly remains racist in the 21st century. This confrontation is necessary to bring justice for all. Our nation’s integrity as one under God is at stake. It falls short of its declaration that, “. . . . all men are created equal. . . . ”

Hard truths can be difficult to deal with outside of the context of faith. Most of us would rather avoid them at all costs. In this journey towards true freedom, we must hold fast to the principles noted in the Constitution. We must follow practices that help us to live a truly free life. The spiritual truth that “those whom the Son sets free are free indeed” (John 8:36). Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
