Introduction

Paul continues with an analogy of household vessels. He explains that in a large house, there are vessels of gold and silver. There are also those of wood and clay. Some are for honorable use, while others are for dishonorable use. He encourages Timothy to cleanse himself from what is dishonorable. By doing so, he becomes a vessel for honorable use. He will be set apart and useful to the Master for every good work. This analogy underscores the importance of purity and dedication to God’s service.
Pursuing Righteousness and Peace (2 Timothy 2:22-23)
Paul advises Timothy to flee youthful passions. He tells him to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. This should be done along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. He reiterates the need to avoid foolish and ignorant controversies that breed quarrels.
