Understanding the Biblical Perspective
I prefer not to engage in debates surrounding Christian nationalism or right-wing politics. Still, I feel compelled by the Spirit to share insights rooted in Scripture. These insights discuss how these ideologies has harmed the Christian faith. These perspectives are contrary to the very nature and heart of God and His plan of redemption for all humanity. They can be deceptive, distorting the truth of God’s Word, and His profound love for creation.
The Bible tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) God’s act of sacrificial love was never intended for humanity to live in contention with one another. Division, strife, and contention come from the adversary, not from God. Jesus Himself gave a warning to His disciples about certain ideologies. He cautioned them, “Watch out: beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod” (Mark 8:15). The “leaven” symbolizes the subtle, pervasive nature of false teachings and political manipulation, which can corrupt the heart of faith.
The Church’s Mission and Responsibility
As followers of Christ, we have a sacred duty. We must go and make disciples of all nations. We are to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We should also teach them to obey everything Christ commanded. Matthew 28:19-20 specifically states: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This mission transcends cultural boundaries. It transcends political boundaries. It challenges us to embrace justice, righteousness, and mercy as integral aspects of God’s kingdom.
Justice and righteousness are foundational to God’s throne (Psalm 89:14). They are central to understanding His purposes and should be reflected in the actions and attitudes of the church. When we align ourselves with ideologies that favor division, power, or exclusivity, we drift away from the heart of God. This alignment undermines the life changing power of His love and grace.
Following the Example of Christ
Christ set a clear example for us in His interactions with humanity. His ministry was marked by compassion, humility, and a commitment to truth. He broke down barriers and reached out to the marginalized. He confronted hypocrisy and injustice without aligning Himself with worldly systems of power. As the body of Christ, we are called to emulate His pattern. We must focus on reconciliation and unity. We should also keep an unwavering devotion to God’s truth.
It is vital to stay vigilant against the subtle influences that distract us from our mission. Ideologies that distort the message of the Gospel or emphasize political agendas over spiritual integrity must be approached with discernment. Our ultimate allegiance is to Christ and His kingdom, not to any earthly institution or ideology.
The Call to Obedience
In a world increasingly shaped by division, the church must rise as a beacon of hope and unity. Obedience to Christ’s commandments is essential in fulfilling our purpose. Paul reminds us to let no debt remain outstanding. The only continuing debt should be to love one another. Whoever loves others has fulfilled the law (Romans 13:8). Love is the cornerstone of our faith and the antidote to strife and contention.
We think on the dangers posed by ideologies that counter God’s nature. Let us recommit ourselves to living out the principles of justice. We should also embrace righteousness and love. We stand firm in the truth of His Word. We are guided by His Spirit. We are dedicated to the mission of making disciples. We bring hope and embody the heart of Christ.
I fervently pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope they will awaken to the truth and recognize the profound dangers that have arisen from this union. May we stand together in discernment and faith. Let us draw closer to the glorious return of Christ. We must hold fast to His light and His word in these turbulent times.
