“The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I’m a Christian does make me a different kind of woman.” – Elisabeth Elliot
This quote resonates deeply with me because it captures the transformation that takes place when one walks with God. Life unfolds differently when you surrender to His will, and His plan is not only greater than you imagine—it’s good. It leads to a bright, hope-filled future and an eternal relationship with Him.
A Journey of Transformation
Over thirty years ago, I began a spiritual journey that completely altered my view of life. When I started, I had no idea where it would lead me. The path was unpredictable, sometimes painful, but always meaningful. Slowly, it became clear that this journey wasn’t just about changing my circumstances—it was about changing me. God was shaping me into someone more like Christ: whole, free, and anchored in my true identity as His child.
I studied Scripture and prayed. I learned to let go of control. Through this, I experienced His guidance and love in unimaginable ways. It wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt and tears when I asked for wisdom and clarity. But in those moments, God shielded me, guarded my steps, and showed me a better way.
Breaking New Ground
When God begins His work in us, it’s like springtime for the soul. He breaks up the hard, barren ground in our hearts. He removes old habits, thought patterns, and ways of living that don’t align with His purposes. Just as a farmer prepares the soil to plant seeds, God prepares our hearts. He helps us accept His truth and grow in righteousness.
At the time, I thought I was seeking answers for my own challenges, especially in my marriage. But God had a bigger plan. He wasn’t just interested in fixing my problems—He was building something new. He reminded me of the words in Jeremiah 1:10 about tearing down and uprooting before planting and building. That’s exactly what He was doing in my life. It was painful, yes, but necessary for the growth and transformation He had in store.
Discovering Purpose
As my relationship with God deepened, I realized there was more to life than I had ever known. I wasn’t content with simply knowing about Him. I wanted to know Him intimately. I desired to experience His power in my life. This hunger for His presence led me to serve in a ministry called “Save the Seed.”
“Save the Seed” was dedicated to “seeking and saving the lost”—individuals whose lives had been devastated by addiction. This was a world I had little experience with, but it opened my eyes to the depth of God’s grace. Working with people society had written off changed me forever. I saw firsthand how God’s love could transform even the most broken lives. And in the process, God was also shaping me—clarifying my purpose and calling.
The Power of Serving Others
My time in that ministry taught me that seeking the lost isn’t just about helping others—it’s about being changed yourself. Each act of service became a lesson in humility, compassion, and faith. I saw that God doesn’t give up on anyone, no matter how far they’ve strayed. He is always calling us back to Him, waiting for us to seek Him with open, expectant hearts.
Our role in God’s Kingdom isn’t just to live for ourselves. I learned that it is also to work alongside Him in bringing others into His light. Serving those who felt forgotten or discarded reminded me of how God seeks us all. He does so patiently and lovingly. He invites us to know Him and experience His power.
A Life Transformed for His Glory
I look back and see how God used that season of my life. He prepared me for the path He had planned all along. My secure little world was uprooted, but in its place, He planted seeds of righteousness, purpose, and hope. He took me on a journey I didn’t expect but one that led to wholeness and freedom in Him.
Today, I stand as a testament to the fact that God’s plans are always good. His love is unending, His patience unmatched, and His desire for us to know Him is unshakable. As we seek Him, He reveals the mysteries of His Kingdom. He shows us not only who He is but also who He created us to be. We embrace His call to seek and save the lost. As we do, we find that we are being saved, day by day, step by step. This leads us into the fullness of life He intended for us.
