Reflections on Faith and the Road Ahead

”Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

As someone who has spent the past thirty years in ministry, my heart feels a deep sadness seeing how Christianity has, over generations, been co-opted by false ideologies. Yet, this isn’t something that catches me off guard. Scripture itself warns us of such times, reminding us that people would eventually turn away from sound doctrine. Instead of seeking the truth, many would become lovers of themselves rather than lovers of God.

This isn’t merely a sign of our times; it’s a reminder of humanity’s ongoing struggle. For centuries, the allure of personal desires and worldly philosophies has pulled people away from the unchanging truth of the Gospel. We see it in the way selfishness is celebrated, humility is undervalued, and love—true, sacrificial love—is often replaced by convenience or conditional affection.

But even amidst these troubling trends, there is hope. Scripture not only foretells the challenges but also equips us to face them. We are called to live authentically, to model the love and grace of Jesus, and to stand firm in truth, even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular. As believers, our mission isn’t to despair but to engage with the world in a way that shows Christ’s life changing power.

For those reading this, I encourage you to reflect on your walk with God. Are we prioritizing His teachings, or are we letting the noise of the world drown out His voice? The journey of faith is not always easy, but it is always worth it. Let us commit to seeking Him first and sharing His love with those around us—not just in words, but in actions that make His promise visible.

May we remain steadfast, knowing that the light of Christ shines brightest in the darkest of times.
