Living by Faith and Doing What’s Right

Sometimes, we might do all the “right” things—attend church, join prayer groups, and follow traditions—but still find our hearts drifting away from God. This can happen when we put our own desires and priorities above God’s bigger plan for His kingdom. Today, as people of faith, we are called to live differently—not just for ourselves but for others too.

Faith isn’t just about meeting our personal spiritual needs. It’s about stepping out in love and action, especially when we see injustice around us. For example, when decisions are made to reduce support for the needy, it’s a wake-up call for us as a community. Regardless of how people may have arrived at their difficult situations—whether through bad decisions or tough circumstances—we are called to help. Our purpose is to reflect God’s love by opening doors of opportunity and offering hope.

Living by faith means doing what’s right in God’s eyes. But it’s not just about personal righteousness; it’s about justice. It’s about standing up for others and showing the world what true faith looks like—a faith that leads people closer to God, not farther away.

As the church, we have sometimes missed the mark. Instead of being a light that draws people in, we’ve put our own interests first, ignoring the needs of others in our communities and nation. That’s not God’s vision for us. We are the body of Christ, and we are meant to live out His mission—loving, serving, and bringing hope to those around us. Let’s refocus our faith to make an impact that truly honors God and helps others see Him through us.

May the God of all grace be our guide at this present time.
