Reflections on Grace and Purpose: Ephesians 3:7-9

Sometimes I sit and marvel at how undeserving I feel for the grace and purpose God has given me. In Ephesians 3:7-9, Paul’s words resonate deeply. He talks about being a servant of the gospel, not through his own merits, but because of God’s grace and power. That reminder humbles me every time: it’s not about what we bring to the table, but about God’s generous gift working in us.

Paul calls himself “less than the least of all the Lord’s people.” If someone like Paul, who played such a huge role in spreading the gospel, felt that way, how much more can we relate? Yet, here’s the beauty of grace—it lifts us up and gives us a purpose even when we feel unworthy. Paul was tasked with sharing the endless treasures of Christ with the Gentiles, and he saw it as a divine responsibility. Through God’s grace, he was entrusted with revealing mysteries that were once hidden.

This passage reminds me that God doesn’t choose us based on our greatness. He chooses us because of His greatness. It’s not about how qualified we are, but how willing we are to trust Him. What an encouragement to know that God’s grace equips us for the tasks He sets before us! No matter how small or unworthy we feel, His power can work through us to accomplish incredible things.

So, as I reflect on these verses, I’m reminded to stay humble, grateful, and amazed by the calling God has placed on my life. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing up, trusting God, and letting His grace do the rest. Just like Paul, we’re called to share Christ’s boundless riches and make His mysteries plain to others. What a privilege and responsibility to carry His message forward!
