Why God’s Power Still Matters Today
Let’s take a moment to talk about real power—not just the kind that comes from being in charge at work, in government, or even in the family. All through history, people have chased after power. Wars have started because of it. People have hurt each other for it. But when it comes right down to it, the only true and lasting power belongs to God.
The Bible says, “God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.” (Psalm 62:11) No matter what humans might try, the kind of power that really changes lives—healing power, peace that keeps you steady no matter what, hope for forever—comes only from God.
God doesn’t want to just be a nice idea in your head or a tradition you follow. He wants to be real in your life. God wants to be the power that gets you through the hardest times, that lifts you up, that heals you, and that shows everyone around you that He is alive and working in the world right now.
If you look at the world today, you’ll see that many people—even Christians—settle for a safe and comfortable faith. They talk about God, but they’ve never fully experienced His real power. Others look for power in other places, like money, technology, or even spiritual practices that aren’t from God, but none of these things truly satisfy. That’s why many people feel empty, stuck, or are searching for something more.
Right now, there’s a sense that God is doing something new, just like in the early days of the Church in the Book of Acts. There’s a “wind blowing,” a surge of the Holy Spirit moving in hearts in ways that can’t be ignored. Interestingly, God is empowering women in this season—just like Deborah in the Bible—to rise up and show the world what God’s power looks like. All over, women are finding a boldness to share their faith, pray for miracles, and help people experience God for themselves.
Some folks might argue and debate all day about whether God is real. But when you see someone’s life radically changed, when a sick person gets healed, or someone finds real hope in a hopeless situation, it’s hard to ignore. That’s what the power of God is all about: it’s real, it’s practical, and it changes things. The apostle Paul wrote that our faith shouldn’t just be built on human wisdom and smart arguments, but on real demonstrations of God’s power (1 Corinthians 2:4-5).
God’s not dead. He’s alive, and He cares deeply about you. He has a purpose just for you and wants you to experience His love and power in your life. That means you don’t have to settle for a powerless, routine faith. God wants to fill you with strength, hope, and the ability to overcome anything—whether it’s sickness, fear, or struggles that seem too big.
This isn’t about being religious or perfect. It’s about letting God show you what He can do. When you open your heart to Him, you might just find that your life starts to have an influence you never thought possible. Just like Deborah made a huge difference in her world, you can impact those around you—not because you’re amazing, but because God’s power is working through you.
So if you’re longing for more—more meaning, more hope, more purpose—don’t look to what the world offers. Ask God to show His power in your life. That’s the kind of power that changes everything.
