The Word of Our God Will Stand Forever

Understanding God’s Unchanging Promise in Simple Terms

Have you ever looked around and noticed how nothing in life really lasts? Flowers bloom and wither, grass grows tall and then dries up, people come and go, and even the earth and sky change over time. Everything around us is always moving, fading, or breaking down. But there is something that will never fade or break—something that stands strong no matter what happens: the word of our God.

God’s Glory Is Everywhere—But We Often Miss It

When we look up at the stars, see the sunrise, or feel the wind, it’s easy to sense that there’s something greater behind it all. The Bible says that heaven and earth are filled with God’s glory. Yet, we often live our daily lives as if we’re blind or in the dark, not really seeing what’s right in front of us. The truth is, people—even those chosen to share God’s message—sometimes don’t truly understand or pay attention to what God is showing them. We hear many things and see many things, but we don’t always take them to heart.

The Difference Between God and Us

The prophet Isaiah pointed out that there’s a huge contrast between God and humans. God is powerful, wise, and never changes, while people are weak, often confused, and only here for a short time. We try to do good, but even our best efforts sometimes fall short. We make mistakes, and our good deeds don’t last forever. In Isaiah’s words, “All our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf.”

The Temporary Versus the Eternal

Isaiah uses images that everyone can understand. He says, “All flesh is grass, and all its kindness is like the flower in the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Just as a flower can be beautiful one day but gone the next, so are our lives and our acts of kindness—temporary and fragile. But God’s promises and His words never go away. They remain true and dependable, no matter what.

Why Does This Matter?

We often worry about what others think, or we’re afraid of things that could happen to us. But Isaiah reminds us: Don’t be afraid of people, because people, like grass, are here today and gone tomorrow. Instead, trust in God, who never changes and whose word lasts forever. Even when it feels like God is silent or hidden, He is still there, working out His plan.

God’s Salvation Is Forever

Even the heavens and the earth—which seem so permanent to us—are nothing compared to God’s salvation. Isaiah says that the sky will disappear like smoke and the earth will wear out like old clothes, but God’s promise to save and deliver His people will never end.

A New Beginning for Everyone

One day, God promises to make everything new—a new heaven and a new earth. People from everywhere will come together and realize that only God is truly great. There will be joy, singing, and celebrations because of what God has done. Those who trust in God, even when things are hard or uncertain, will never be disappointed.

The Takeaway

Life is full of changes and uncertainties, but God’s word stands firm. When we put our trust in what God has promised, we have something solid and lasting to hold on to, no matter what else comes and goes. So if you feel lost, worried, or unsure about the future, remember: grass withers and flowers fade, but the word of our God will stand forever.
