Why We Should Seek Truth and God’s Presence
Have you ever felt like there’s more to life than what you see and hear every day? Deep down, every person has a desire for what’s real and true. It’s actually the way we were made—we want to know what really matters. But here’s the thing: a lot of what the world tells us is important doesn’t really satisfy that deep hunger. The world’s version of “truth” often turns out to be fake, and its version of “reality” can leave us empty.
For those who follow Jesus, there’s something special about wanting to know the deeper things of God. It’s a hunger for something more than just surface-level living. It’s wanting to grow up spiritually, to move past just knowing about God and actually knowing Him in a real way. This is what people mean when they talk about “maturing” in Christ—it just means becoming more like Him, hungering for His goodness and wanting to live in His ways.
Right now, many people are hoping for a new move of God—something powerful that changes lives. But honestly, a lot of us don’t really feel much hunger for God. We get busy, distracted, or just settle for “good enough.” But think about it—what if we wanted more? What if we actually asked God to show up in our lives, to fill us with His presence, to show us His power, and to be with us like a true friend?
Jesus once said, “If you’re thirsty, come to Me and drink. Believe in Me, and rivers of living water will flow from within you!” (John 7:37-38) That’s an open invitation. It’s Jesus saying, “If you want more, come and get it.”
So here’s a simple prayer you can try: “God, I want more of You. More of Your presence. More of Your love. More of Your truth.” It’s okay to be honest and ask Him to stir up that hunger in your heart. When we do, God promises to meet us right where we are, to satisfy our thirst, and to help us grow.
Let’s not settle for the world’s version of truth. Let’s wake up and go after the real thing. Want more of God. Ask for more of Him. He’s ready and willing to give it.
