The Way of Faith—A Simple Explanation

How to Live with Purpose and Confidence in God

What does it really mean to live “the way of faith”? Let’s break it down in simple terms, so anyone can grasp and apply it to their own life.

Living On Purpose: More Than Just Going Through the Motions

Living by faith means you don’t just drift through life, hoping things will work out. Instead, you live with intention—you’re purposeful and deliberate about finding and fulfilling what you were created to do. This isn’t just about religious leaders or “superstar” Christians; it’s about everyone who believes in Jesus. We all have a role to play.

Faith Isn’t Just for the “Super Spiritual”

The Bible talks about the “priesthood of all believers.” This means that every believer is important—there are no “second-class” Christians. God wants everyone, not just a select few, to walk with Him, hear His voice, and live out their faith.

What Is Faith, Really?

Faith is trusting God—believing He’ll keep His promises, even when you can’t see how it’ll happen. Romans 4:16 says God’s promises come by faith, as a free gift, and are meant for everyone who believes like Abraham did.

When you put your faith in Jesus, you become part of this same family of faith. The Bible encourages us to “hold fast”—to keep believing and saying what God has promised, even when it’s tough. God is always faithful to keep His word.

Why “Professing” Our Faith Matters

To “profess” means to declare what you believe, to speak it out loud. The Bible talks a lot about openly declaring your faith—not hiding it, but letting others know where you stand. When you speak God’s promises out loud, you’re reminding yourself and declaring to the world that you trust God.

Standing Firm When Life Gets Hard

Faith isn’t always easy. Life throws challenges at us—doubts, fears, and tough situations. The Bible tells us to “stand firm”—to hold our ground even when we feel attacked or discouraged. When you reach the end of your own strength, that’s when you can see what God can do. Jesus said, “With God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). Anything can happen if you believe!

God’s Power Works in Us

Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God can do far more than we could ever ask or imagine, by His power working in us. If you ever feel like your prayers or dreams are too big for God, remember—nothing is impossible for Him! You can ask boldly, knowing God hears and acts in His perfect timing.

A New Way to Approach God

Because of Jesus, we have a new, open way to approach God. We don’t have to be afraid or feel unworthy. Hebrews says we can come close to God with boldness, fully convinced that nothing can separate us from His love. You are forgiven, washed clean, and welcome in His presence.

Don’t Let Doubt Steal Your Confidence

If you start to doubt God’s word, you’ll lose your spiritual strength and joy. James puts it simply: if you’re constantly changing your mind—believing one minute and doubting the next—you won’t get very far. God wants us to ask with confident faith, not wavering.

Let God’s Word Shape Your Life

It’s not enough to just read the Bible; the words need to sink into your heart. Psalm 119:11 says to “hide God’s word in your heart.” When you accept and believe what God says, it changes you from the inside out.

We Are Uniquely God’s People

Faith sets us apart. The Bible calls believers “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people.” That means we live differently—not limited by what the world says is impossible, but believing that God can do anything.

Faith in Action: Finding Your Purpose

As you discover and live out your purpose, expect your faith to be tested. Challenges don’t mean you’re doing something wrong—they’re part of the journey. When you keep declaring and believing God’s promises, you’ll see the way open up before you.

Build Your Life on a Solid Foundation

Your faith is like the foundation of a house. If it’s solid, you can handle whatever storms come your way. If it’s shaky, it’s time to rebuild. Jesus is the only true foundation. Everything you do should be built on what He’s done for you.

Now Faith—Hope in Action

Hebrews 11:1 says “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith is what makes life meaningful and helps you achieve your God-given purpose, even when you can’t see the outcome yet.

Final Encouragement

Living the way of faith isn’t about never having doubts or problems. It’s about trusting God’s word, declaring His promises, and staying steady even when life is difficult. As you welcome God’s word into your heart and put it into practice, you’ll find a new sense of purpose—and see the impossible become possible.

Let the faith of God be in you, and watch as He does more than you could ever ask or imagine!
