God Never Changes: Holding On to His Promises

Understanding Malachi 3:6 in Everyday Life

Have you ever felt like everything around you is changing, and it’s hard to keep up? Maybe you’ve started something new, like a job, a relationship, or even a new chapter in life, and suddenly you find yourself doubting if you made the right choice. It’s normal to feel uncertain during times of change or challenge. But here’s an encouraging truth from the Bible: God doesn’t change, even when everything else does.

God’s Promises Are Solid—He Never Changes

Malachi 3:6 says, “I the Lord do not change.” That means God’s character, love, and promises remain rock-solid, no matter what we face. Unlike people or situations that can shift overnight, God’s word and His commitment to us are steady. He doesn’t change His mind. If He made a promise, you can count on it.

Why Does It Sometimes Feel Like God is Silent?

When we’re going through tough times or big transitions, it can feel like God is distant or silent. You might even wonder, “Did I make a wrong turn? Did I misunderstand God?” Even spiritual heroes faced these doubts! John the Baptist, who once boldly pointed everyone to Jesus, later found himself in prison questioning if Jesus was truly the Savior (Matthew 11:2-6). Jesus answered not with anger but by reminding John of all the miracles and good things happening—proof that God’s promises were still being fulfilled.

Faith Gets Tested in Tough Times

When we first start our spiritual journey, things can feel smooth and exciting—like a plane taking off with powerful thrust. But as we keep going, we hit turbulence. Challenges pop up, doubts creep in, and it’s easy to wonder if we’re still on the right path. In those moments, our faith is what keeps us going.

The Bible tells the story of Abraham, who trusted God even when it seemed impossible. He didn’t let doubt sway him. Instead, he held onto God’s promise, fully convinced that God would do what He said (Romans 4:20-21). That kind of faith is what helps us keep moving forward, especially when turning back isn’t an option.

Letting Go of “Plan B” and Trusting God

Think about standing in the shallow part of the ocean—you can feel the sand, and you’re in control. But if you walk out deeper, suddenly the bottom disappears, and you’re not sure what’s under your feet. Sometimes, following God means going so far out that you can’t turn back. There’s no “Plan B” left to fall on. That’s when the enemy tries hardest to make you doubt and give up.

It’s normal to have thoughts like, “Did God really promise me this?” or “Is He still with me?” But don’t let those doubts take over. Instead, focus on God’s word. Encourage yourself: “I will reach my destiny. I will receive what God promised.”

How to Hold On When It Gets Hard

Here are some simple steps to help you during tough times:

·      Remember God’s promises: Write them down, say them out loud, keep them close.

·      Don’t be moved by your feelings: Feelings change, but God’s word stays the same.

·      Speak life: Tell yourself, “I can do this. God is with me. I will make it!”

·      Trust that help is coming: God says in Isaiah 41:13, “Do not fear; I will help you.”

Final Encouragement

No matter what you’re facing, remember this: God hasn’t changed His mind about you or His promises for your life. Even when you feel lost, uncertain, or alone, He is still right there. Better days are ahead. Don’t let go of hope!

Blessings to you—keep going! God is unchanging, and His love for you never fails.
