Finding Awe and the Presence of God in Simple Terms
Many people today feel something is missing in how we experience God and faith. Sometimes, Christian leaders try to explain everything about God in ways that seem logical or easy to understand. But the truth is, God’s presence is so amazing and beyond words, it’s almost impossible to describe it in a way that does it justice.
Some people look for shortcuts to happiness or blessings, like “five steps to a better life” or “ten ways to get what you want from God.” But God’s presence isn’t about following a recipe or a set of easy steps. It’s much bigger, deeper, and more mysterious than that.
If you’re looking for something you can understand completely or control, you might miss out on the true majesty of God. The real experience of God is beyond human explanation or formulas.
A lot of people start searching for God but give up quickly if it feels boring or hard. They might chase after the newest trends or ideas in religion, hoping these will fill them up inside. But often, this leaves them feeling empty and unsatisfied because these things are not the same as knowing God’s presence.
This message is a gentle invitation: don’t settle for shortcuts or distractions. Instead, let your heart long for God Himself. Deep inside, we all truly desire to be close to God and to feel His presence.
A wise Christian writer, Thomas à Kempis, once said that to really grow spiritually, we need to learn to enjoy being close to God and not let the world get in the way. He also said that making progress with God means letting go of things that distract us. When we do, we find real freedom and security.
Sometimes the busyness and worries of life make it hard to focus on God. But the good news is that, through Jesus, nothing can truly keep us away from God’s presence. Our hearts still hunger for Him, and God welcomes us to draw near.
So if you feel spiritually hungry or empty, don’t give up. Let your desire for God grow. Seek Him—not just blessings, tips, or quick fixes. Enjoy His presence, and let Him fill you with awe and peace.
