Unity, Love, and the Gifts God Gives

Why Unity Matters for Experiencing God’s Gifts

Sometimes we get so busy with our everyday routines that we forget something incredible: God cares about every single detail of our lives. Nothing is too small for Him. He’s not a distant observer—He’s right here, deeply involved with each of us.

In the Bible, specifically in 1 Corinthians 12:22-27, Paul reminds us that we’re all connected. He uses the example of the human body: every part matters, no matter how big or small. In the same way, everyone who believes in Jesus is part of one Body—the Body of Christ. There shouldn’t be any division or fighting among us, no matter what church we go to or what denomination we belong to. God’s desire is for us to be united.

Paul goes on in verse 28 to talk about all the different gifts God has placed in the church: apostles, prophets, teachers, people who can do miracles, those with gifts of healing, helpers, guides, and even people who speak different kinds of languages. It’s a pretty amazing list! God wants His people to have what they need to help each other and show His love and power to the world.

But here’s a question: if God has given all these gifts, why don’t we see them at work more often? One big reason is a lack of love and unity. When we’re divided—arguing, jealous, or thinking some people are more important than others—it’s hard for God’s gifts to shine through. These gifts weren’t meant for just a select few, or for one group to look better than another. They’re for building up everyone, for showing the world who God is.

If we want to see more of God’s gifts—miracles, healing, wisdom, and all the rest—we need to come together as one. That doesn’t mean we all have to agree on everything or worship the same way. It means recognizing that we’re all on the same team, called to love and support one another. When we’re united in love, God’s power is free to move, and the world gets to see just how amazing He is.

God has given us so much. The Bible says we’re created in His image and likeness, which means there’s something special and valuable in each person. Let’s choose to walk in love, fight for unity, and use the gifts God has given not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us. When we do, we’ll see His glory cover the earth in ways we can only imagine.
