When God Speaks: It’s Meant for Action, Not Just Talk

Why Listening to God Means Doing What He Says

Let’s keep it simple: When God speaks, it’s not just for us to sit around and chat about it. He’s not throwing out ideas for debate or giving us advice to consider. Every time God says something, He expects us to act. God doesn’t make suggestions—He gives commands. So, if you want God to speak into your life, your family, or your church, get ready to obey Him.

Think about it: God is the creator of the universe, the one who made everything and rules over all. If He cares enough to communicate with you, it’s a huge deal. Ignoring what He says isn’t just rude—it’s missing the whole point. He’s the Lord, and Christ is at the head of the church. He has every right to tell us what to do.

When you hear God’s voice—whether through the Bible, prayer, or your heart—you have a choice. You can either follow Him or turn away. It’s one thing to mess up because you didn’t know better. But if you know what’s right and still choose not to obey, that’s something God takes seriously. There’s a passage in the Bible (2 Peter 2:20–21) that says people who know the truth are held responsible for what they do with it.

Jesus even asked, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). In other words, if we call ourselves followers of Jesus, it doesn’t make sense to ignore His instructions.

To sum it up: When God speaks, it’s for us to listen and then do. Obedience isn’t an option—it’s the only real response. If you want to hear from God, be prepared to act on what He says. He’s not just looking for people who will listen, but for people who will live out His words.
