Reflections on John 15:26 and the Work of the Holy Spirit
In John 15:26, Jesus offers His disciples a profound promise: the coming of the Advocate, also known as the Holy Spirit. He describes the Advocate as being sent from the Father, calling Him the Spirit of truth. This designation not only highlights the divine origin of the Holy Spirit but also emphasizes His essential role in guiding and sustaining believers. The Spirit’s purpose, as Jesus explains, is to testify about Him — bearing witness to His identity, teachings, and mission in the world.
The Divine Testimony of the Spirit
The Holy Spirit’s testimony is unique and powerful. Sent from the Father, He confirms the truth of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, and draws hearts into a deeper understanding of Christ’s message.
