Discovering Our True Identity, Rights, and Love in God’s Family
Introduction: Redemption in Christ—What Does It Really Mean?
Redemption in Christ is one of the most profound gifts God has given humanity. For years, I pondered what it truly meant to be redeemed. Was it simply forgiveness for my mistakes? Or was it something deeper, more life-changing? As I’ve grown in faith, I’ve discovered that redemption is not just about erasing the past. It involves embracing a completely new life. It means adopting a new identity and a fresh start. Redemption means that Jesus, through His sacrifice, bought us back from a life of separation. He brought us into a relationship with God. In this relationship, we are fully accepted, loved, and made new. This realization has humbled me. It has also filled me with hope. It reshaped how I see myself and my place in God’s family.
We Have Been Redeemed: Freedom, New Life, and New Identity
To be redeemed is to step out of darkness and into light, out of bondage and into freedom. In Christ, I am no longer defined by my failures or shortcomings; instead, I am a new creation. This transformation isn’t just theoretical—it’s deeply personal and practical. I remember struggling with the weight of my old labels: not good enough, too broken, never measuring up. But Christ’s redemption gave me a new name and a new story. Now, I belong to God’s family. I am a beloved child. I am accepted and celebrated for who I am. My worth is not based on what I have done or neglected to do. My identity is rooted not in my performance, but in His unchanging love.
Our Rights and Privileges: Authority Over Sickness, Poverty, and Fear
Being part of God’s family comes with rights and privileges I never imagined possible. Sometimes, I forget that as a child of God, I have spiritual authority. This is an inheritance that includes peace, joy, healing, and provision. In Christ, I no longer have to bow to sickness, poverty, or fear. Instead, I can stand firm, knowing that God has equipped me to overcome life’s challenges. This empowerment is not based on my strength, but on His promises. When I face adversity, I remind myself: I am not powerless, I am a co-heir with Christ. This truth uplifts me. It fuels my courage to pray boldly. I expect God’s goodness in every area of my life.
Breaking Free from Unworthiness: The Impact of Sense Knowledge
For much of my life, I was haunted by feelings of unworthiness and shame. My mind was often filled with doubts—was I really lovable? Can God truly accept someone like me? These thoughts, shaped by my experiences and the world’s standards, created walls in my heart. But as I embraced what God says about me, the grip of unworthiness began to loosen. I learned that “sense knowledge”—the opinions and judgments of myself and others—can’t define my true worth. In Christ, my value is settled. I am cherished, chosen, and precious in His eyes. This realization has set me free from constantly striving for approval and allowed me to rest in His acceptance.
The Gift of Righteousness: Not Earned, But Received Through New Birth
One of the most beautiful aspects of redemption is the gift of righteousness. For so long, I tried to earn God’s favor by doing the right things, hoping to deserve His love. Yet, Scripture reminds me that righteousness is not a reward for good behavior. It is a gift received through faith in Christ. When I accepted Jesus, God clothed me in His own righteousness. This means I can stand before Him without fear or shame—not because of my efforts, but because of His grace. This truth is liberating. It silences the inner critic and replaces guilt with gratitude. I am righteous, not by my merit, but by His loving gift.
Living in the Love Realm: Experiencing God’s Love and Fullness
Living as a new creation means learning to dwell in the reality of God’s love every day. His love isn’t just a concept to know, but a reality to experience. I have found that the more I accept His love, the more it overflows into every area of my life. It flows into my relationships, my work, and my attitudes. This love empowers me to love others boldly and to walk in confidence, knowing that I am never alone. When challenges come, I remember that nothing can separate me from God’s love. Living in this “love realm” fills my heart with peace and joy. It gives me a sense of purpose that no circumstance can take away.
Conclusion: Embrace These Truths and Live Boldly in God’s Presence
If there’s one message I’d share with every believer and seeker, it’s this: Embrace the beautiful gift of redemption. Let go of old identities and step into the new life Christ offers. Remember your rights and privileges as a child of God—walk in authority, freedom, and love. Reject feelings of unworthiness, accept the gift of righteousness, and choose to live daily in God’s presence. When we embrace our identity as new creations, we gain courage to live boldly. We learn to love extravagantly. We begin to shine brightly in a world that desperately needs hope. May we all dare to live as who we truly are: redeemed, beloved, and empowered children of God.
