Why God’s Word is Essential for Understanding Our Lives

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16

Why There Must Be a Word from God

Imagine if someone built an amazing machine—something unique and powerful—and then never gave any instructions or said a word about how to use it. That wouldn’t make sense. In the same way, it’s hard to believe that God, who created us with the ability to think and understand, would always keep silent and never tell us anything about Himself or what He wants for us.

People are different from animals. We have reason and understanding, while animals don’t. God made us to know Him, to serve Him, and to have a relationship with Him. If He didn’t want us to know Him, He wouldn’t have made us this way. So it wouldn’t make sense for God to never speak to us, to never tell us what He wants, or how we should live.

God Communicates Like a Loving Father

Think about a good father. He doesn’t just ignore his children—he talks to them, teaches them, and guides them. God is like that. He has given us the ability to speak and understand, and it would only be natural for Him to communicate with us, too. Without God telling us about Himself, we’d be lost—like children without a parent’s guidance.

Why We Need God’s Word

If we didn’t have any word from God, we wouldn’t know how to worship Him, what pleases Him, or even what to believe. We wouldn’t know what happens after we die, how to be forgiven when we’ve done wrong, or what God expects from us. We wouldn’t know why there’s so much suffering, or how things went wrong in the world. We’d have no clue about how the world was made, or what happens in the next life.

Without God’s Word, we’d be in the dark about the most important questions of life. People in places without the Bible often have all sorts of ideas about God—some worship statues, others even do harmful things because they don’t know the truth. It’s clear we need a word from God to guide us.

Why the Bible Is the Word of God

So where is this word from God? The answer is the Bible. Other nations and peoples who don’t have the Bible don’t have these truths. The Bible tells us where we came from, why things are the way they are, what God is like, and how we can be close to Him. It gives us clear rules for living, tells us what’s right and wrong, and shows us how to be saved.

Miracles and Prophecies as Evidence

One thing that stands out is the miracles connected to the Bible. When God told people like Moses, the prophets, and Jesus’ followers to write His word, He gave them the power to do amazing things—miracles—to prove that their message was truly from Him. Jesus Himself worked miracles, and even people who didn’t believe in Him recognized these things happened.

Another powerful sign is prophecy. The Bible told about things that would happen long before they did—like the coming of Jesus, and many other events. These prophecies have come true, showing that the Bible is trustworthy.

The Bible’s Consistency and Influence

The Bible we have today is the same one people had thousands of years ago. It hasn’t been changed or tampered with, even though it’s been spread all over the world in many languages. Different groups who disagree with each other have all kept the same Scriptures, so it can’t have been secretly altered.

Wherever the Bible has gone, people have come out of darkness and found the truth about God. Nations that once knew nothing about God now have light and understanding because of the Scriptures.

Opposition and Impact

It’s also worth noticing that the Bible has faced huge opposition. Many people, even powerful rulers and armies, have tried to get rid of it. But the Bible has survived and changed hearts and whole nations. The first people who shared the message were not powerful—they were simple, ordinary folks. Yet, their message spread and transformed the world.

No other book has had such an impact on people’s hearts. The Bible wakes up our conscience, challenges us to do better, and has turned many wicked people into new men and women. The more people follow it, the more convinced they are that it is truly God’s Word.

Conclusion: The Bible’s Unique Authority

In the end, no other book has shaped the world or reached people’s hearts like the Bible. Its words have survived all attempts to silence them, and its message has brought light and hope where there was once only darkness. The Bible isn’t just a collection of old stories; it’s the living Word of God, speaking to us about who God is, what He wants for us, and how we can know Him. That’s why we can trust the Scripture as the Word of God.
