When I look around at all the hatred, bitterness, anger, and racial division—even inside the Christian church, where we sometimes see white nationalism and animosity—I realize something crucial is missing: a deep desire to know God more personally and intimately. If we truly understood God’s heart and His love for every person, it would change the way we treat each other. God made all people from one blood, meaning every human being shares the same origin (Acts 17:26). No matter our skin color, background, or language, we all come from the same ancestor. The differences we see today are not because God created separate races, but because He wanted a diverse family united by love and respect.
God’s longing when He created all nations from one man, Adam, was for us to live together as brothers and sisters. But when we lose sight of God’s humanity—the way He cares for His creation—we start to focus on what separates us rather than what connects us. That’s why so many hearts feel empty, restless, or angry. What’s really missing is the longing to know God, to understand Him, and to let His love fill us. The Psalms remind us it’s not about debates or labels; it’s about our soul’s thirst for God, our satisfaction in Him, and our determination to cling to Him above all else. When we truly seek God, He fills us, and that fullness spills over into how we relate to others.
If we want to heal the divisions and bitterness around us, it starts with turning our hearts toward God. We need to stop chasing after things that don’t satisfy and instead ask God to help us see each person as part of His beloved family. When we long for God and experience His love, we become more willing to love and accept those who are different from us. That’s what real faith looks like—it’s more than just longing, it’s living in the truth that God is enough for all of us. If we keep reaching for Him, He will fill our souls and teach us how to love others, no matter their background.
Lord God,
As we close our time of reflection, we bring before You our hearts—thirsty, longing, and eager for Your presence. Thank You for meeting us in every desert moment, for satisfying us when life feels empty, and for drawing us closer when our souls cling to You. Help us to keep seeking You above all else, to find our deepest satisfaction in Your love, and to let Your Spirit guide us each day. May Your grace overflow in us, changing our hearts and drawing us into unity and compassion for others. Remind us that, no matter what we face, Your strength is enough and Your goodness never runs dry. We trust You to carry us forward, to renew us with hope, and to help us love as You love.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
