From Awakening to Hope: A 22-Year Spiritual Journey

A Personal Journey from Awakening to Hope

The Moment My Eyes Were Opened

I still remember the first time I truly became aware of the attributes—the glory—of God. It wasn’t in a crowded church or during a grand conference. It happened in a quiet moment, as a young minister, when my heart was searching for more of God. I’d heard about His greatness, but suddenly, everything felt real and personal. It was as if a veil was lifted, and I could sense something extraordinary just over the horizon.

2004: The Spirit Whispers, “The Glory Is Coming”

Back in 2004, while spending time in prayer, I heard these simple, yet profound words in my spirit: “The glory is coming.” It wasn’t a booming voice or a dramatic vision, but a gentle stirring deep within. At first, I didn’t fully understand what it meant. But the phrase echoed in my heart for days, weeks, and then years. It became a rallying cry—an invitation to prepare, to expect, and to long for the tangible presence of God.

The glory of God represents the manifestation of His infinite, intrinsic worth, beauty, and perfection, encompassing all divine attributes like holiness, love, power, and mercy. It is the visible splendor or “weightiness” (Hebrew: kavod) of His presence, revealed through creation, scripture, and the person of Jesus Christ. This glory is not only seen in the majesty of the world around us and the stories we learn from the Bible but also serves as the ultimate purpose for which humanity was created—to reflect and honor God’s greatness in our lives.

Nineteen Years Later: Looking Back, Moving Forward

Now, as 2026 marks twenty-two years since that unforgettable moment, I find myself reflecting on the journey. There have been high points and valleys, seasons of doubt and seasons of awe. Yet through it all, the anticipation for God’s glory has only grown stronger. I see now that awakening is not just a one-time event but a lifelong adventure—a constant rediscovery of who God is and what He can do among us.

One scripture that really stood out to me was Isaiah 60:2: “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” This verse reminds me that even when things feel difficult or uncertain, God’s presence and glory can shine through and bring hope. It’s like a promise that no matter how dark the world may seem, God’s light will always be there to guide us and lift us up.

God’s Glory Declared: Psalm 19 and Romans 1:19

The Bible is filled with declarations of God’s glory. Psalm 19 tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Every sunrise, every starry night, is a reminder that God is revealing Himself to us. Romans 1:19 echoes this truth: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.” It’s as if creation itself is constantly proclaiming, “He is here! He is glorious!”

The Urgent Need for Revival

Looking at our world today, it’s clear we need revival more than ever. Chaos, confusion, and hopelessness seem to be everywhere. People are searching for meaning, stability, and light in the darkness. The same stirring I felt in 2004—“the glory is coming”—feels even more urgent now. We’re not just waiting for a spiritual event; we’re yearning for a move of God that heals hearts, restores hope, and brings lasting change.

Encouragement from Evangelism and God’s Glory

I recently read an excerpt on evangelism that deeply encouraged me: “True evangelism is not just sharing good news, but inviting others to experience God’s glory for themselves. When God’s presence fills a life, nothing stays the same. Our hunger for His glory fuels our desire to go, to love, and to see His kingdom revealed.” That’s the heartbeat of revival—to see God’s glory manifested in ordinary lives, in our communities, and around the world.

A Hopeful Declaration: The Glory Is Coming!

As I look ahead, my heart is filled with hope. Twenty-two years ago, I heard it in my spirit. Today, I believe it more than ever: The glory is coming! Let’s keep seeking, keep believing, and keep making room for God to move. The best is yet to come.
