Living for God: Embracing Holiness in a Changing World

Simple Thoughts on Staying Steadfast and Living for God

Why “Awakening the Church” Matters Right Now

If you’ve been feeling unsettled with all the changes and challenges happening around us, you’re not alone! As Christians, we’re called to see the world through God’s eyes, not just our own, and to understand what He expects from us in tough times. God wants us to be steady—strong in faith, calm in spirit, and unwavering no matter what comes our way.

Standing Firm: What the Bible Says

When life gets turbulent, God reminds us in 1 Corinthians 15:58 to stand firm and live confidently, knowing that our connection with Him makes everything we do meaningful. This means we don’t just “get by”—we can thrive, even when things are messy, by focusing on serving God and trusting Him to bring lasting results from our efforts.

Living Holy Lives

Another important part is living differently from the world. 1 Peter 1:14-16 urges us to leave behind old habits and aim to be holy, just as God is holy. That sounds intimidating, but it really means choosing daily to live in a way that honors God, even if everyone around us is doing something else.

History Lesson: What’s the Reformation Got to Do With Us?

The Protestant Reformation was a big shake-up in church history, started by Martin Luther in the 1500s. Luther challenged the church’s practices and stood up for living by faith in God’s grace, not by buying forgiveness or following empty traditions. His message reminds us that real faith is about trusting God’s gift—living “coram deo,” which means living in God’s presence, under His authority, and for His glory.

Why This Matters Right Now

Today, the spiritual atmosphere is changing. Many believers sense God doing something new—revealing more of His kingdom, pouring out wisdom, and calling the church to wake up and live for Him. It’s not just about being “good people,” but about living with a deep awareness of God’s presence and purpose.

How Do We Grow?

Spiritual maturity doesn’t happen overnight. The Bible encourages us to let God renew our minds, learn His Word, and obey what we’ve learned (see Romans 12:1-2). Sometimes, this means surrendering more deeply to God’s Spirit, letting Him lead us, and being ready for whatever He asks us to do.

Practical Steps

·      Take time each day to seek God—pray, read Scripture, and listen for His guidance.

·      Ask God to help you leave behind old ways of thinking and living.

·      Be ready to embrace new opportunities and open doors God provides.

·      Share what God is teaching you with others—encourage them to stand firm too!

Conclusion

Awakening the church isn’t just a big event—it’s about everyday believers, like you and me, choosing to live fully for God. We can stand strong, be holy, and live “before the face of God,” trusting Him to guide us and use us for His glory. No matter what’s happening in the world, God promises to fill us with joy and keep us steady, as long as we keep our eyes on Him.
