Discovering God’s Deepest Longing for Us
Let us pause together today to consider an essential question: What does God truly desire? This question isn’t just for theologians—it matters to every one of us. It shapes how we live and how we seek to follow God’s will. When we understand God’s heart, our lives become more meaningful and filled with purpose.
Relationship Over Ritual
It’s easy to think religion is about following rules or attending services. Yet the Scriptures show us that God’s greatest wish is for a real, living relationship with us. In Jeremiah 31:3, God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” God wants to be close to us, to walk with us, and to be part of our everyday lives—not just our rituals or routines.
The Heart Matters Most
Jesus himself told us that the most important commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. God doesn’t just want us to obey outwardly; He longs for us to trust Him, love Him, and give our hearts to Him. The Psalmist prayed, “Create in me a clean heart, O God,” reminding us that God values our inner transformation far more than external actions.
God Wants Us to Love Others
God’s desire extends beyond our relationship with Him—it includes how we treat each other. The second greatest commandment is: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” God wants us to show compassion, kindness, and forgiveness, reflecting His love to the world. When we love others as God loves us, we fulfill His greatest wishes.
Living Out God’s Desire
So, what does God really want? God wants our hearts, alive with love for Him and for our neighbors. God wants us to pursue a relationship, not mere rituals. He wants us to live out His love in all we do, letting our faith shine brightly each day.
Let us pray for open hearts, ready to embrace God’s will—not just in words or actions, but in the depths of our being. May we seek what God truly wants and follow Him with joy and sincerity.
