In February 2008, I taught a prophetic message called “Vision and Seed Faith Will Get You There.” This morning, I listened to that message again while thinking about where I am today. Back then, the message lined up with the vision God had given through the leader of the church I was part of. But over time, I realized it was also a seed planted in my own heart.
That seed has continued to grow as I follow God’s plan for my life. I wanted to share a few simple highlights from that message because I believe they still speak to us today.
Vision often starts small
Vision usually comes in seed form. It does not always arrive fully grown, fully explained, or fully understood. Like a natural seed, vision takes time to grow, mature, and produce a harvest. That is why we cannot give up just because we do not see everything happening right away.
Habakkuk 2:3 reminds us that the vision has an appointed time. In plain terms, if God gave it, we can trust Him with the timing. Even if it seems slow, we are called to wait in faith because what God has spoken will come to pass.
Vision begins with a visionary
God often gives vision through a person He can trust to move forward in faith and obedience. Abraham is a powerful example. God told him to leave what was familiar and go to a place He would show him. Abraham did not have every detail, but he had a word from God—and that was enough to start walking.
When Abraham obeyed, he became part of something much bigger than himself. His faith opened the door for blessing, legacy, and purpose. That is what vision does: it pulls us beyond comfort and into God’s bigger plan.
Vision changes how we see life
The vision planted in my heart brought transformation. If I had not received that word, I would not have grown spiritually the way I have. God began to teach me through His Word and train my ears to hear His heart.
Jesus said in Mark 4 that the mystery of the Kingdom is given to those with teachable hearts. That means God reveals more to people who are willing to listen, learn, and obey. Vision is not just about having a dream; it is about having a heart that is open to God’s direction.
Without revelation, people lose direction
Proverbs 29:18 says that where there is no vision—no revelation of God and His Word—the people are unrestrained. In everyday language, when people do not understand God’s purpose, they can lose focus, wander, or live only for what is right in front of them.
But when God gives revelation, life becomes more than routines, responsibilities, and survival. We begin to see with spiritual eyes. We begin to understand that God has a redemptive plan for mankind and that each of us has a part to play.
Vision impacts generations
As I grew in this revelation, I began to see my life differently. It was not just about going to work, coming home, and getting through each day. I began to see how God wanted to use my life, my faith, and even my role as a mother.
I saw a vision for raising my children in a godly way. I understood that our children and our children’s children need to know who they are in Christ. When they understand their identity, they can walk in purpose and impact future generations.
A word for today
If God has placed a vision in your heart, do not despise the seed stage. Nurture it with prayer, obedience, faith, and patience. Seeds do not become harvests overnight, but when they are planted in good soil and cared for, they grow.
Keep listening. Keep trusting. Keep walking. The vision may start small, but when it comes from God, it carries purpose, power, and promise. Vision and seed faith will get you there.
Before new life can grow, something old often has to be surrendered. Just like a seed must be planted and die before it can produce a harvest, we must let go of our old ways so God can bring us into a fresh, fruitful life.
