“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. The lion has roared—who will not fear?  The Sovereign Lord has spoken—who can but prophesy?”
Amos 3:8

During this time before the Christmas holidays, I usually slow down in preparation for the coming new year so that I can hear what the Lord wants to speak to me. I anticipate 2020 to be a very significant year in the Body of Christ. How we close out a season (with gratitude) is important for transitioning into the next season.

God desires of us that we put Him FIRST in our lives. Each year I endeavor to share a prophetic perspective for the coming new year based upon what I sense the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to God’s people.  Many prophetic voices, including myself, have shared that we have entered into a new era in the church. We are crossing a threshold into a new movement of righteousness.  The  Holy Spirit will be emphasizing – righteousness this year. “The LORD is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.” Psalm 145:17

People typically do what is right in there own eyes. A line is being drawn as we cross over into this new era. The previous year 5779 on the Hebrew calendar was a year of seeing what the Holy Spirit was revealing to the church. The year 5780 will be a time to express in words what the Spirit will be revealing to the church. A time to speak the truth in love, and to speak what we see taking place in the spirit realm in preparation for the coming move of the Holy Spirit.

Pey” is the Hebrew letter for the number 80. It’s a picture symbol of a mouth. It is the seventeenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and it rhymes with “pay”. It means “mouth” and by extension, “word,” “expression,” “vocalization,” “speech,” and “breath.” [1] Discerning when to speak and when to be quiet will be crucial during the next decade if we are to see the Kingdom of God expand in our lives through our declarations of faith.

Since ‘pey’ (mouth) follows ‘ayin (eye), some Jewish mystics have maintained that though the ‘ayin is the gateway to reality, the mouth is what brings reality into being. [2]

God is a God Who Speaks

This is a year to decree a thing. As I was talking with a friend, I felt the overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit say “as you decree a thing it will be done.” “As you speak into the lives of others change will come. “ Prophetic declarations will draw you closer in intimacy with Almighty God!

Decree:

…an order usually having the force of law a judicial decree by royal decree. 2a : a religious ordinance enacted by council or titular head a papal decree. b : a foreordaining will God’s decree. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary.

Declaration:

a formal or explicit statement or announcement.

the act of declaring

Decreeing and declaring God’s promises over your life even in the midst of difficulties and pains is a powerful scriptural and spiritual weapon for experiencing daily victory in life.

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
Psalm 36:9 New International Version (NIV)

This will be a decade of decreeing the Word of the Lord over ourselves, over our families, our neighbors, our churches, and our nations. The Lord is expanding our vision so that we can see beyond our natural circumstances, and become the “salt of the earth” and “light of the world”. So that the people who walk in darkness will see a great light. What we declare with our mouths, what we speak, what we say, will be key for victory and for advancing the Kingdom of God.

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.

Psalm 19:1-2 New International Version (NIV)

This is a time to put a guard over our mouths. Consecrate your mouth to speak life and not death.  Ask the Lord to set a guard over your mouth; keep watch over the door of your lips. If it doesn’t edify, it’s better left unsaid. Words have power. Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

20 Sharing words of wisdom is satisfying to your inner being. It encourages you to know that you’ve changed someone else’s life. 21 Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.

Proverbs 18:20-21 The Passion Translation (TPT)

The tongue is like fire. And we all know a fire can spread rapidly destroying everything in its path. Frame your words with wisdom and grace, seasoned with salt. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6 (NIV)

And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence.

For every wild animal on earth including birds, creeping reptiles, and creatures of the sea and land have all been overpowered and tamed by humans, but the tongue is not able to be tamed. It’s a fickle, unrestrained evil that spews out words full of toxic poison!

James 3:6-8 The Passion Translation (TPT)

In the midst of divisiveness, let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths during this new season, but only what is helpful for building up those in need and bringing grace to those who listen. Ephesians 4:29

The Holy Spirit longs to prepare God’s people for things to come! Holy Spirit wants to release clear vision, 20/20 vision … perfect insight to see into your future. Wisdom and discernment will be key in this new era of the church. What we believe should line up with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. In order to progress in this new era we will need to re-evaluate our beliefs and make sure they line up with God’s plumb line of righteousness.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16
