Reclaiming Authentic Christianity: We Are The Ekklesia (Church) Part 2 (Reposted)

“…on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. ” Matthew 16:18 (emphasis mine)

“…on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.” (Matt. 16:18-20)

The body of Christ will need to break off many of the religious traditions we hold to dearly in order to fulfill the Great Commission. We have been given the keys of the kingdom heaven to bind the powers of darkness and loose the kingdom into the earth. For to long we have assumed that the height of our Christian service to God is limited to serving in the local church. The Lord is calling us to go beyond the limits of religious traditions (Matth.16:19).

We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The spirit of religion tries to prevent the church from reaching the lost in the spheres of religion, family, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, and business. The doors are opening wide and God is calling His church to reach and impact these areas. Looking at the current state of affairs in the western church and nation I see a door of opportunity open for the church to progressively fulfill its Kingdom purpose.

When Jesus spoke about the church in Matthew 16, He envisioned a radical community of believers that hell could not prevail against. We need to ask ourselves if we are operating as the church that Jesus defined in the New Testament or are we just “doing church” the way we think based on some model or tradition instituted by man.

Darkness cannot prevail against the ekklesia of God. The Church should have great influence in all spheres that make up a society. The Church is anointed and charged to bind the powers of darkness and loose the influence of the Kingdom. We have been given the power and authority to shape society and culture. Too often the church has looked to man or politics to accomplish what God has anointed the church to so.

In order to truly transform any nation with the gospel of Jesus Christ, we must go into the places that so desperately need the love of Christ. It’s time to take   Apostle Paul said: “…a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me” (1 Cor. 16:9). It’s time to take off the grave clothes. A wide door has been opened to make an impact unlike we’ve ever witnessed before. The time is now! Let’s do this!

May the grace, joy, and peace of God be yours through Jesus Christ our loving Lord. To Him be glory, now and forever.
