And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
A new day is on the horizon. As I have said many times, everything that can be shaken is being shaken (Hebrews 12:27). We can expect this shaking to increase in momentum until only that which is unshakable remains. But we need not be alarmed, for God has determined to build anew on a sure foundation (Isaiah 28:16). God will be the sure foundation of our times. He will be what holds things together, fast and firm during these times. A “rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).
As Romans 12:2 admonishes every believer, we are to be transformed by renewing our mind. How you think. Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete” (Romans 12:2 Voice).
Transformation is a process. The difference between transformation and conformation is unmistakable. To conform is to act in accordance with prevailing standards or customs. To transform is to change in character or condition.
Our old mindsets have been conditioned pre-Christ to think in conformity to the world’s standards and customs. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior our minds must be renewed daily to His image and way of thinking and doing things.
Romans 12:2 and Ephesians 4:23 are key verses relating to transformation. Our hearts and our behaviors experience internal and external transformation when we spend time daily in the Scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to help us transform our thinking.
Much of what we are witnessing today, political and church divisions, racism, can be linked to unrenewed minds that have been not been transformed to the image of Christ.
Dangerous ideologies and doctrines many adhere to today do not reflect the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).
How we view God is critical to living a transformed life and experiencing the fullness of Christ (Colossians 2:6-23). In order to go to another level and experience His fullness, our minds must be renewed to God’s ultimate purpose and plans before the foundation of the world.
As God’s children we must emerge into a purpose and philosophy of life that is wholly God-centered and not self-centered. Take a fresh breath and let God renew your attitude and spirit.
Discipleship costs you something, but it yields a great reward!
It is my hope in these discipleship shorts to express the heart of God for the Church in these last days. And to encourage every Believer to be renewed and transformed in their understanding of God’s desire for His Church to fulfill the… and see a practical manifestation of the Kingdom on earth. When we discover Gods heart it transforms and shapes our attitude, focus and priorities more than any other.
“ So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you” (Romans 12:2 MSG)
May God give His people grace to apprehend this great truth.
