Wednesday Wellness – 6-2-2021

“Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 2).

In essence God wants His children complete, entire and lacking nothing.
Wholeness can be seen from a Biblical perspective as the state of being well in body, soul (mind, will and emotions) and spirit. This was God’s original design for man before the fall.

Wellness is the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal. (Google Dictionary)

Observing the current state of things it’s no doubt that there are many broken people in the world. The Bible has much to say about brokenness. For the purpose of this writing I’m referring to those who are weary, wounded, and bruised by life’s challenges. Those who are sick physically, mentally and heart. I understand because I’ve been there. I haven’t arrived, but I choose to live by faith and in the light of God’s love that she wants His children whole as a display of His glory.

Faith in God will make you whole (Luke 17:19; Mark 5:34).

What comes to mind is the man at the pool of Bethesda. The Pool of Bethesda was a pool in Jerusalem known from the New Testament story of Jesus miraculously healing a paralyzed man, in the fifth chapter of the Gospel of John. By the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda laid a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. At a certain time an angel would go down into the pool and stir up the water. Whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had (John 5:2-4).

There was a certain man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years laying by the pool. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The man sais “yes” to Jesus and was made whole (John 5:5-7).

I believe the Lord is saying this today. “Do you want to be made well?” Don’t allow external circumstances to cloud your faith. Christ has provided a way of life through faith in which we can be made whole. You just have to step into the waters of faith believing that Christ will make you whole. Faith in Christ’s power to heal, set free and deliver will restore you and make you whole.

It’s not that God loves broken people more than those who imagine themselves to be whole? It’s simply that they know they are loved. They dare to believe it . . . and through trust and faith a new wholeness emerges from yesterday’s broken pieces.
