How little we know God’s ways.
This morning I was pondering over much of the political chaos in the world, especially America. I was reminded of something the Lord said to me last year March 2020, “My people do not know my ways, nor do they know my Word”. The thought came to me that God’s ways are past finding out. But is this true?
Hosea 4:6 (NLT) says, “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me.”
Hebrews 3:10 (NIV) says, “That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’
God’s ways are so much higher than ours, but it is possible to know know His ways. He sets them forth in His Word. His way is His purpose or customary action. He sets before us “the way of life and the way of death” (Jeremiah 21:8), the good way or way of righteousness, and the paths of justice (Isaiah 26:7; Proverbs 8:20).
Second Isaiah 55 is an invitation to get to know Him and His ways. It costs you nothing other than your time.
In Second Isaiah 55 verse 9 God says, “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your
God does not adjust His thoughts to our thoughts nor to our plans and ideas. We cannot enlighten or instruct Him “the path of justice”, “knowledge”, or “the way of understanding” (Isaiah 40:13-14).
He admonishes the wicked to forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Encouraging them to turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.
God’s thoughts are higher than human thoughts. Yet, if we take the time to get to know Him, He will reveal Himself to us.
