Wisdom In Trying Times

”But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)

God graciously makes Himself known to humanity through the Holy Spirit, His Word and those who speak the truth in love. God has thoughts and plans to prosper each one of us. It was never His will for mankind to grope around in darkness. Wisdom and sound judgment is the key. Wisdom is crucial when it comes to gaining knowledge and understanding from the Lord.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (New American Standard Bible)

23 This is what the Lord says: “Let no wise man boast of his wisdom, nor let the mighty man boast of his might, nor a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let the one who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises mercy, justice, and righteousness on the earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.

A spirit of deception is running rampant throughout many nations, and the church. People are being deceived because they do not know God, His ways, nor His heart for humanity. Hebrews warns the church not to go astray in our hearts because we do not know His ways or refuse to do what He tells us in His Word.

In this time of calamity entering into God’s rest requires deep conviction, trust and knowing God’s ways. We cannot enter His place of rest if we turn away from Him in our hearts. Keep in mind that it is possible to honor Him with our lips, but our hearts can be far from Him (Matthew 15:8).

God says in the Scriptures, “So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest. So I was angry with them, and I said, ‘Their hearts always turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them” (Hebrews 3:10-11).

Too many people (politicians, ungodly leaders) boast today of their own wisdom, might, and riches leading many astray. But the wisdom of this world is coming to nothing.

The Lord frustrates the schemes of the shrewd, So that their hands cannot attain success.and captures the so-called wise by their own cleverness, And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted (Job 5:12-13).

Prophets and prophetic people see beyond the ordinary. Many people are looking for spiritual guidance. People are hungry for spiritual truth. Daniel 11:33 says, “Those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many; “ In these trying times, the mouth of the righteous will utter wisdom from above and their tongue will speak justice (Ps. 37:30).

People’s hearts grow cold because they listen to the foolishness of men and women who don’t know the truth. As prophetic people, we need to “come up higher,” and see things from a heavenly perspective. It’s time for the church of Jesus Christ to rise up out of her complacency. Wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind (James 3:16). We are not to place our hopes in man’s wisdom. So, I urge you in the midst of political upheaval, racial tensions, and Covid-19 to seek wisdom from above that is pure; then peace-loving, considerate, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere (James 3:16-17).

Blessings,

Minister Dr. A. Francine Green
