The Consequences of Turning Away
Leaving the gospel of grace behind has serious consequences. A distorted gospel does not lead to salvation because it is built on lies, not the truth of God. It robs believers of the joy and freedom found in Christ, replacing them with confusion and spiritual burdens. Moreover, it creates division and arguments within the church, breaking the unity that Christ wants for His followers.
Paul’s warning is not harsh for the sake of being critical—it comes from a place of love. He cares deeply about the spiritual well-being of the Galatians. He does not want them to lose the hope and life that Jesus offers. Turning away from the gospel is like trading a priceless treasure for something empty and worthless.
Staying Faithful to the Gospel
Galatians 1 reminds all believers to stand firm in the gospel they have received. This means taking time to understand what the gospel truly is.
