A Simple Reflection on What’s Happening in America Today
Let’s talk honestly for a minute. Looking around at what’s happening in America, it’s easy to feel like things are off track. Maybe you’ve wondered, “Is this really what God wants for us?” The truth is, much of what we see and hear these days is inconsistent. It doesn’t align with the life God calls us to live. It’s no wonder He repeats repeatedly, “My people do not know my Word.” They also do not know my Ways!”
If we’re being real, many are chasing after quick fixes and empty promises. They hope the next new idea or movement will finally fill the emptiness inside. We pick up slogans and solutions that sound good for a moment. But, they don’t hold up in the long run. Maybe we’ve gotten so wrapped up in what’s trending or popular. We have forgotten to ask, “What does God actually say about this?” It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about obeying a bunch of rules. It’s about letting truth shape our hearts and actions. This holds true even when that means swimming against the current. There’s a deeper, more meaningful way ahead if we’re willing to listen and turn back to what matters most.
The children of Israel made the same mistakes. They wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. This happened because they did not know God’s Ways.
They were told in Psalm 95:8-11, “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah. Do not do as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness. That was where your ancestors tested me. They tried me, though they had seen what I did. For forty years, I was angry with that generation. I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray. They have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, nor is his ways our ways. His ways are so much higher than ours. ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways. My thoughts are higher than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Earthly men and women no so little about how God’s ways. They walk in the darkness of their own understanding. “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. (Psalm 82.5)
They become fools because the do not know Him, like senseless children. ““My people are fools; they do not know me.
They are senseless children. They have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil. They know not how to do good.”
How long will we say we are a Christian nation? Yet, we do not adhere to the truth of God’s Word. Be divided by race, religion and politics. ” “How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? and fools hate knowledge? I will make my words known to you. when distress and anguish come upon you. they will seek me diligently but will not find me. and have their fill of their own devices. and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” (Proverbs 1:22-33)
How far will we have to fall before we wake up!
Wake up Church “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. NIV Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. (Rev. 2:5)
