Seeing Beyond: Cultivating Spiritual Awareness (Pt. 2)

Seeing Beyond What Meets the Eye

“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” (Hab. 1:5)

In this profound declaration from the book of Habakkuk, we are reminded of the boundless possibilities embedded in God’s plans. It is a call to awaken, to lift our eyes to the spiritual horizon, and to see beyond the limitations of our earthly perspective.

Jesus reinforces this truth when He speaks about the condition of our hearts in Matthew 13:12-13:

“For everyone who listens with an open heart will receive progressively more revelation until he has more than enough. But those who don’t listen with an open, teachable heart, even the understanding that they think they have will be taken from them. That’s why I teach the people using parables, because they think they’re looking for truth, yet because their hearts are unteachable, they never discover it. Although they will listen to me, they never fully perceive the message I speak.”

These words are both a caution and an invitation. They teach us the necessity of cultivating an open, teachable heart—one that is ready to see, hear, and respond to the revelations of God.

The Call to See with Kingdom Perspective

Our journey of faith is not meant to be static or confined to a set of rigid principles. It is dynamic, alive, and overflowing with encounters with the living God. This is what makes it essential to adopt a Kingdom perspective in this critical hour. To see with Kingdom eyes is to step beyond the boundaries of human reasoning and regulations, and instead enter into God’s realm of the Spirit, where we are invited to live and move in partnership with Him.

The writer of Hebrews captures this beautifully:

“We have come to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels” (Heb. 12:22).

This profound truth reminds us that we are no longer mere spectators of the divine; we are participants in God’s eternal Kingdom. As partakers of His divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4), we have the privilege of discerning His will, trusting the flow of His Spirit within us (Jn. 7:37-39), and setting aside the limitations of our natural minds.

Faint Impressions and Divine Guidance

One of the most common ways God reveals His vision is through faint impressions in the mind and imagination. These subtle whispers and glimpses are His way of unveiling His will and purpose. Though these impressions may seem delicate, they carry profound significance when their source is rooted in Him.

Seasoned prophets often attest that the most predominant ways they hear God is through these still, small thoughts and faint impressions. Learning to trust these divine revelations has been a personal journey for me. What gave me confidence was the alignment I consistently found between these impressions and the Word of God. This is why immersing oneself in God’s Word is foundational—it serves as the compass that keeps us on course.

Daniel, the exemplary prophet, used his spiritual eyes and ears to experience the Kingdom of God within (Luke 17:21). Even if our spiritual vision initially offers only hazy glimpses, we must honor what we see. With time and exercise, our spiritual eyesight strengthens, allowing us to discern more clearly the mysteries God reveals.

Empowering What We Honor

There is a spiritual principle at work: Whatever we honor, we empower. Whatever we focus our attention and energy on, we magnify in our lives. This principle challenges us to fix our spiritual eyes firmly on the realm of the Spirit, intentionally gazing with faith and expectation.

Distractions abound in the natural world, threatening to pull our focus away from the things of God. Yet as we mature in faith, we learn to steady our gaze and prioritize the eternal over the temporal. This discipline enables us to live lives that are not merely reactive to earthly events but are aligned with heavenly realities.

Faith Beyond the Four Walls

True Christianity is not confined to the walls of church buildings or the duration of a Sunday service. It is meant to permeate every aspect of our daily lives. My desire is to carry the truths of Scripture into the routines of everyday living, embodying the Word in action and practice.

I continually pray, as Paul did in Ephesians 1:18, that “the eyes of my heart be enlightened.” This enlightenment allows us to see the Spirit’s work and revelation in the midst of the noise and chaos of our present world.

A Prayer for Prophetic Vision

My prayer for you is simple yet profound: that the eyes of your heart be wide open and enlightened. I pray that you will look not merely at the circumstances around you, but beyond them, to see the hand of God at work in ways that defy human comprehension. May you not be distracted by the visible chaos but remain steadfast in seeking the invisible yet eternal realities of His Kingdom.

As you set your gaze on Him, may you be utterly amazed by what He reveals and accomplishes in your life and in the world around you.

Blessings,

Minister A Francine Green
