Understanding the True Message of Jesus in Simple Terms
There’s Only One True Good News
Have you ever heard people talk about the “Gospel” and wondered what it really means? The word “gospel” simply means “good news.” In the Bible, the good news is the message about Jesus Christ—how He came to save us and give us a relationship with God. But sometimes, people get confused by different messages or ideas about what it means to follow Jesus. Let’s break down what the Bible says in plain language.
Don’t Be Fooled by Imitations
In a letter to some early Christians, Paul (one of Jesus’ followers) was shocked to hear that they were starting to believe a different message instead of the original good news about Jesus. He wrote, “I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from God, who called you by His grace through Christ, and are believing something different than the Good News. Really, there is no other Good News!” (Galatians 1:6-7). In other words, there’s only one true gospel, and anything else is just a fake version.
Paul warned that even if he or an angel came with a different message, no one should believe it. He was serious—he repeated himself, saying that anyone who teaches a different gospel should be rejected (Galatians 1:8-9). That’s how important it is to stick to the real thing.
The Heart of the Good News: The Cross
The main point of the gospel is what happened on the cross. Paul explained, “The teaching about the cross seems like foolishness to those who are lost, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). Some people think the story of Jesus dying on a cross doesn’t make sense, but for those who believe, it’s the way God shows His love and power. Jesus’ sacrifice is what makes forgiveness and new life possible for everyone.
Share the Message with Others
After Jesus rose from the dead, He told His followers to share this good news with everyone: “Go and make disciples of all people in the world… Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, even until the end of time” (Matthew 28:19-20). That means the message is for everyone, no matter where they’re from or what their background is.
You’re Not Alone—God Helps You
Jesus knew that His followers would need help, so He promised that God would send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—to teach and remind us of everything He said (John 14:26). We don’t have to figure it out on our own. God is with us, guiding us every step of the way.
In Summary
· There is only one true gospel—the good news about Jesus Christ and His grace.
· Don’t let anyone confuse you with a different message.
· The heart of the gospel is the cross—Jesus’ sacrifice for us.
· We are called to share this good news with everyone.
· God gives us His Spirit to help us understand and live out this message.
So, if you ever wonder what the good news is all about, remember: It’s all about Jesus, what He did for us, and how He invites everyone to be part of God’s family. That’s the only gospel, and it’s truly the best news ever!
