Person Reflection
A lot of people are discussing putting the Ten Commandments in public spaces. This seems like a powerful way to share faith. Let’s think about something even more impactful: living out those commandments through our everyday actions. Instead of focusing on where the words are displayed, how about focusing on how they’re lived?
The Ten Commandments are more than just words on a plaque or a wall. They’re a guide for how to live with love, respect, and integrity. Imagine how much stronger their message would be if people saw them in action every day. We show others what it truly means to follow those teachings when we choose kindness over anger. Honesty is preferred over deceit. We value compassion over judgment.
For example, when we honor others with respect, we fulfill “Honor your father and mother.” When we lend a hand to someone in need, we embody “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We bring those commandments to life by being faithful in relationships. We do this by being generous in spirit and peaceful in our choices. This is something no stone carving ever achieve.
Living out the teachings of Scripture doesn’t require a public display; it requires a personal commitment. Let’s be the kind of people who don’t just talk about faith. We should show what faith looks like through our actions. Let’s commit to kindness, humility, and love. Let’s be the living proof of what the Ten Commandments and the Scriptures teach.
In the end, it’s not about where the commandments are posted—it’s about where they’re practiced. And when they’re practiced in everyday life, they become impossible to miss. That’s a message the world could always use more of.
