Experiencing God’s Glory in Everyday Life

What does “God’s glory” really mean?

When people talk about “God’s glory,” it can sound like a big, complicated idea. But in simple terms, it means the greatness, beauty, and value of God. It refers to who God is, what God does, and how we see Him in the world around us.

What Is God’s Glory?

Think of God’s glory as the brilliant light from the sun. It’s not just about what God is like on the inside. His character and qualities are important. It is also about how He shows Himself to us through His actions, creation, and even in people’s lives.

Here are a few key aspects:

·      Intrinsic Glory: This is the “built-in” majesty of God. It includes His perfect nature, power, love, holiness, and everything else that makes God, God. He is glorious, no matter what.

·      Manifest Glory: This is when God’s greatness is shown in the world. For example, when you see an amazing sunset, a newborn baby, or a miracle, these moments reflect God’s glory. In the Bible, God’s presence sometimes appeared as a bright light, which the Jewish people called “shekinah glory.”

·      Ascribed Glory: This is the praise, honor, and worship people give to God. When you sing, pray, or simply thank God, you’re giving Him glory.

·      Sharing in Glory: Through faith, especially in Jesus, believers are invited to experience God’s glory. They reflect His character and live in His presence.

How Do We See God’s Glory?

You don’t have to look far. The Bible says in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” That means the sky, the stars, and the oceans are like signs. The eagle soaring above is also like a sign. They all point to how amazing God is. Creation itself is a living exhibition of God’s glory.

Why Did God Create Us?

Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” According to the Bible, humans were made to reflect God’s glory. We are meant to show what He is like in the way we live, act, and love others.

How Can We Glorify God?

To glorify God simply means to recognize how good He is and to live in a way that honors Him. This can be through worship, acts of kindness, or obedience. It can also be by living in a way that reflects His love, patience, and truth. Everything we do can be a way to honor God and show off His greatness to the world.

In a Nutshell

God’s glory is about who He is and how He reveals Himself to us. It’s visible in the world, in people who love Him, and in every good thing we see. We are created to enjoy that glory. We are also meant to reflect and celebrate it. Our lives should “shine” with God’s light and love for everyone to see.

For thirty years, I have sometimes been graced by fleeting glimpses of God’s manifest glory. These arrive at the most unexpected moments. These encounters are delicate yet profound. They have pierced through the ordinary fabric of my days. My soul is shattered in awe and deep, trembling awareness. The Divine was truly present with me. In those sacred instants, the certainty of God’s nearness transformed even the most familiar spaces into holy ground. I was left forever changed and deeply grateful.
