There are moments in life when God begins to stir something deeper in your soul, and for me, that moment became a turning point. I realized I could no longer be satisfied with knowing God from a distance. I wanted more than routine religion, more than occasional prayer, and more than simply hearing His Word. I rededicated my life to God and to the study of His Word because I wanted to know Him more intimately and grow spiritually. As I surrendered more fully to Him, I also came to understand that becoming a minister was not something I achieved on my own, but a calling of His grace upon my life. From that place, my faith began to grow in a more personal, deeper, and life-changing way.
One scripture that became especially meaningful to me was Philippians 3:10: “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection.” These words express the cry of a hungry heart. They are not just about learning facts about Jesus. They are about wanting a close, personal relationship with Him and experiencing His life-changing power every single day.
What It Means to Know Him
To know God is not just to know about Him. It means walking with Him, trusting Him, listening to Him, obeying Him and letting Him teach you who He is. It means building a relationship that is personal, honest, and alive. When I rededicated my life to God, I began to understand that spiritual growth is not about pretending to have it all together. It is about surrendering daily and allowing God to draw you closer to Himself.
The Power of His Resurrection
When Paul talks about “the power of His resurrection,” he is talking about the life-giving power of Jesus Christ. In the original Greek, the word for power is dunamis, which means mighty, miraculous strength. It is the same root word from which we get the word “dynamite.” In simple terms, this is the powerful work of God that can lift a person out of spiritual dryness, break the chains of sin and shame, and bring new life where there once was emptiness. This understanding of Philippians 3:10 is widely explained as the transforming power believers experience through Christ’s resurrection.
· It gives us victory over sin, helping us say no to old patterns and yes to a new way of living.
· It gives us hope in hard times, reminding us that God can bring life out of dead situations.
· It changes us from the inside out through the work of the Holy Spirit.
· It reminds us that our story is never over when God is involved.
The Fellowship of His Sufferings
Paul did not stop at resurrection power. He also spoke about “the fellowship of His sufferings.” That means that sometimes knowing Christ more deeply happens in painful seasons. Trials can humble us, stretch our faith, and teach us to depend on God in ways we never would during easy times. This does not mean God enjoys our pain. It means He can use even our struggles to shape our character, heal our hearts, and bring us closer to Him. Many explanations of this verse note that suffering and resurrection power go hand in hand in the Christian walk.
An Ongoing Journey
Rededicating my life to God was not the end of the story. It was the beginning of a deeper journey of discovery, healing, and spiritual growth. I am still learning what it means to know Him, trust Him, and experience the power of His resurrection in everyday life. Some days are filled with joy, and some days come with struggle, but through it all, I am learning that God is faithful. The closer I draw to Him through His Word, prayer, and obedience, the more I see that true transformation comes from His power, not my own. My prayer is simple: Lord, help me know You more intimately, walk with You more faithfully, and grow into the person You have called me to be.
