A Spirit-led invitation to restoration, renewal, and returning to the heart of God
This is a word the Lord placed on my heart in 2022, and I sense Him bringing it forward again now because it speaks so clearly to this moment. Sometimes the Holy Spirit will highlight a simple word and cause it to burn with fresh meaning, and that is what I sense again with the prefix “re-.” This is more than a theme to me; it feels like a prophetic reminder of what God is doing in this hour. He is restoring what has been broken, renewing what has grown weary, reviving what has gone dormant, and calling hearts back to Himself. For many, this is not simply a season of starting over. It is a season of divine realignment, holy resetting, and fresh surrender. The Lord is drawing His people back to first love, back to trust, and back to the place where His presence is our strength and His Word is our foundation.
Three Powerful “Re” Words
When I think about the Christian life, three “re-” words immediately rise in my heart: redemption, reconciliation, and restoration. These are not distant church words. They are the very heartbeat of the Gospel. Scripture says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7). And again, “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). What a beautiful picture of the heart of God. Through Jesus, we have been brought near, made right with God, and invited into His restoring work. The same God who saves also heals, rebuilds, and makes whole.
God Is Not Finished
There are so many other “re-” words that carry the sound of heaven to me: renew, refresh, revive, return, rebuild, and redirect. Each one carries hope. If you feel tired, remember the promise: “those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). If you feel dry, Acts 3 reminds us that as we turn to God, “times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19). If something in your life feels delayed, devastated, or devoured by time, the Lord still speaks restoration: “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten” (Joel 2:25). He is still the God who rebuilds ancient ruins and restores places long devastated (Isaiah 61:4). God is not finished, and what looks barren to us is not beyond His power to breathe on again.
When We Return to Him
This is why repentance is such a gift. Repentance is not punishment; it is an invitation. It is the mercy of God calling us to turn around, come back, and realign our hearts with Him. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord” (Acts 3:19). I believe the Lord is drawing many people out of weariness, distraction, disappointment, and compromise—not to shame them, but to refresh them. He is calling prodigals home, awakening sleepy hearts, and restoring clarity where there has been confusion. What a beautiful kindness of God that He does not merely expose what is off; He invites us back into wholeness.
Recognizing His Visitation
Sometimes the Lord moves in ways that are dramatic and unmistakable, and sometimes He comes quietly in the middle of ordinary life. He may show up in a healed relationship, restored peace, renewed hope, unexpected provision, or simply the strength to take the next step. Yet however He comes, His visitation changes us. I believe we are in a time when many will begin to recognize His nearness in a deeper way—not always through spectacle, but through His unmistakable presence, His healing touch, and His power to shift what human effort alone could never change. When God visits, hearts awaken, dry places begin to live again, and ruined places do not remain ruined forever.
A Simple Invitation for the New Season
As we step into this new season, I do not believe the invitation is simply to make better resolutions. I believe the Lord is calling His people to reaffirm their love for Christ, realign their hearts with His Word, and recommit themselves to His purposes. This is a time to let go of striving, self-reliance, and old disappointments. The Spirit of God is drawing His people into deeper surrender, deeper trust, and deeper dependence on His voice. He is still restoring, renewing, and refreshing. He is still rebuilding ruins, reviving hearts, and releasing fresh hope. He is the God of the “re-,” and with Him it is never too late to return, be restored, and begin again.
A Brief Prayer
Lord, thank You that You are the God who restores, renews, revives, and refreshes. Thank You that no place in our lives is beyond Your reach. Where we are weary, renew our strength. Where we are broken, bring healing. Where we have wandered, draw us back with Your kindness. Open our eyes to recognize Your visitation, quiet every competing voice, and align our hearts with what Your Spirit is saying in this hour. Let this be a season of returning, rebuilding, and fresh surrender. In Jesus’ name, amen.
