How to Seek God’s Wisdom in Uncertain Times

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. — James 1:5

We are living in uncertain times. Many people are asking, “What is happening?” and “What should I do?” The good news is that God has not left us without help. He invites us to ask Him for wisdom, and James 1:5 reminds us that He gives it generously.

Wisdom is more than having information. It is knowing what to do, how to respond, and how to walk with God when life feels unclear. We do not have to panic, because Jesus is our sure foundation. He is the precious cornerstone Isaiah spoke about, and when we trust Him, we can stand firm even when everything around us feels shaky.

God is still in control. That means He has authority over what has happened, what is happening now, and what will happen in the future. We may make our plans, but Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

That should bring us peace. God sees the whole picture. He sees our beginning, our ending, and every step in between. Romans 8:28 tells us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

In hard financial times, confusing seasons, and moments of global uncertainty, we need the wisdom of God. Like the men of Issachar in 1 Chronicles 12:32, we need to understand the times and know what to do. That kind of wisdom comes from staying close to God and listening for His direction.

God wants to speak to us. Jeremiah 33:3 says to call on Him, and He will answer. Proverbs 1:20 says wisdom cries out openly. In other words, God is not hiding wisdom from us. He wants us to seek Him, ask Him, and pay attention.

Godly wisdom helps us live the right way. It teaches us when to speak, when to be still, when to move forward, and when to wait. Proverbs 2:7 says God gives wisdom to those who walk uprightly, and He guards the path of His faithful ones.

The wisdom of this world often tells us to depend only on ourselves, chase what is popular, and follow the crowd. But God’s wisdom is different. James 3:17 says wisdom from above is pure, peace-loving, considerate, teachable, full of mercy, and sincere.

So what do we do when life feels uncertain? We ask God for wisdom. We do not have to pretend we have all the answers. God will not shame us for needing help. He gives wisdom with grace, patience, and love.

This is also a time for the Church to wake up and return to what matters most. We cannot simply go through the motions. We are called to be salt and light, to love God with our whole hearts, and to live in a way that reflects His Kingdom.

Romans 12:2 tells us not to copy the ways of the world, but to be changed by the renewing of our minds. That means we must let God shape how we think, how we see, and how we respond.

Uncertain times can make people fearful, angry, distracted, or discouraged. But for believers, uncertain times can also become moments of growth. Trials can teach us patience. Challenges can strengthen our faith. Pressure can reveal where we truly place our trust.

Instead of only asking God to remove every hardship, we can also ask Him, “Lord, give me wisdom in this. Show me what You want me to learn. Help me respond in a way that honors You.”

God has placed us in this time and in this place for a reason. Acts 17 reminds us that in Him we live, move, and have our being. He is not far from us. He knows our purpose, our calling, and our future.

God does not look at us only through our faults, failures, or mistakes. He sees who He created us to be. As we respond to Him in faith, He helps us become stronger, wiser, and more prepared to overcome in a changing world.

I believe God is doing something new. This is not the time to sit back and only watch. This is the time to draw close to Him, listen for His voice, and be willing to follow where He leads.

We may not know everything that is ahead, but we know the One who holds the future. When we lack wisdom, we can ask God. When we feel unsure, we can trust Him. When the world feels unstable, we can stand on Christ, our firm foundation.

So today, let us pray: “Lord, give us wisdom for these times. Help us see what You are doing. Teach us how to walk in faith, love, courage, and obedience. Keep our hearts close to You, and help us be light in a dark and uncertain world.”

Beloved, God is faithful. He is generous. He is near. And if we ask Him for wisdom, He will give it.

Blessing,
