Be Still and Know: A Reminder for Anxious Hearts

“Be still, and know that I am God” is more than a beautiful Bible verse. It is God’s loving invitation to pause, breathe, and remember that we do not have to carry everything on our own.

Life can feel loud, heavy, and out of control. We worry about our families, our future, our health, our finances, and things we cannot fix. But Psalm 46:10 reminds us that peace does not come from having every answer. Peace comes from knowing who God is.

To “be still” means to stop fighting in our own strength. It means we can step back from fear, stop trying to control every detail, and trust that God is still working—even when we cannot see it yet.

To “know that I am God” means remembering that God is bigger than the storm, stronger than the problem, and faithful in every season. He is not surprised by what we are facing. He is present, steady, and able to carry what feels too heavy for us.

So today, take a moment to be still. Release the worry. Let go of the need to figure everything out right now. Pray, breathe, and rest in this truth: God is with you, God is for you, and God is still in control.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be still today. Quiet my anxious thoughts, strengthen my faith, and remind me that I am safe in Your hands. Amen.
