Who Do You Say That I Am? Living in the Truth of Christ
When Everything Is Shaking
We are living in a time when many things feel uncertain. Families are changing, culture is changing, the world is changing, and even people’s ideas about truth are changing. In moments like these, it becomes very important to know what you believe, because what you believe will shape how you stand, how you speak, and how you live.
Jesus once asked His disciples a question that still speaks to us today: “Who do you say that I am?” Before that, He asked what other people were saying about Him. Some thought He was a prophet. Others had different opinions. But Jesus was not only interested in public opinion. He wanted a personal answer.
That is the question every person must answer. Not just, “What does my family believe?” Not just, “What does my church believe?” Not just, “What do people online believe?” But, “Who do I say Jesus is?” In a shaking world, borrowed faith will not hold us. We need a faith that is personal, rooted, and real.
Peter answered Jesus by saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus told Peter that this truth had been revealed to him by the Father. In other words, Peter did not simply repeat a religious phrase. He saw something by faith. He understood that Jesus was not just a teacher, not just a miracle worker, and not just a good man. Jesus is the promised Savior and the Son of God.
Revelation Gives You Something to Stand On
Revelation simply means that God helps us see what we could not fully see on our own. It is more than information in the head. It is truth becoming alive in the heart. When God reveals who Jesus is, our faith becomes stronger because it is built on something deeper than feelings, trends, or opinions.
This matters because shaking has a way of testing foundations. When life is easy, many people can sound confident. But when pressure comes, what is inside us begins to show. If our faith is only built on convenience, it may fall apart. But if our faith is built on the truth of Christ, it can hold steady even when everything around us is moving.
Truth Is Not Whatever We Want It to Be
Today, many people say, “Live your truth.” Usually, they mean, “Be honest about who you are and what you feel.” There can be value in being honest, but Christians are called to something higher than living by feelings alone. We are called to live by His truth.
Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The freedom Jesus gives is not the freedom to do anything we want. It is the freedom to become who God created us to be. His truth frees us from fear, confusion, sin, shame, and the pressure to be shaped by every voice around us.
God Still Has a Purpose for His People
From the beginning, God wanted people to walk with Him, reflect His goodness, and fill the earth with life. That purpose has not changed. Through Jesus, God is still calling people to live close to Him, be changed by Him, and represent Him in the world.
This is not just about attending church or knowing religious words. It is about letting Jesus rule our hearts, guide our decisions, and shape the way we treat people. In a time of shaking, God’s people are called to be steady, loving, truthful, and full of hope.
Faith Is More Than a Feeling
Faith is not just positive thinking. Faith is trusting God enough to respond to Him. It believes what God says even when circumstances look difficult. It reaches for Jesus when there seems to be no other answer.
Think about the woman in Luke 8 who had been sick for many years. She believed that if she could just touch the edge of Jesus’ garment, she would be healed. Her faith was not in the cloth itself. Her faith was in Jesus. She reached out because she believed He had the power to make her whole.
The early believers also learned to live with this kind of faith. They prayed, followed the leading of the Holy Spirit, and expected God to move. Their lives remind us that Christianity was never meant to be only words on a page. It is a living relationship with a living God.
Faith Sees Beyond the Noise
When the world is loud, faith helps us listen for God. When fear is everywhere, faith reminds us that God is still present. When people are confused about what is true, faith brings us back to Jesus, who said He is the way, the truth, and the life.
We often think reality is only what we can see and touch. But the Bible teaches that there is more going on than what appears on the surface. God is working in hearts, opening doors, giving strength, and calling people back to Himself. A renewed mind helps us see life through God’s Word instead of through fear alone.
So, Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
This is the question that cannot be ignored. Is Jesus only a name you have heard? Is He only a figure from history? Or is He the Christ, the Son of the living God? Your answer matters because it will shape how you live when life is uncertain.
If Jesus is truly Lord, then His truth must become our foundation. His words must matter more than popular opinion. His presence must matter more than fear. His purpose must matter more than comfort. Knowing who Jesus is gives us strength to stand when everything else is shaking.
Stand Firm and Live His Truth
In this season of shaking and change, ask God to make your faith firm. Ask Him to reveal Jesus to you in a deeper way. Ask Him to help you live what you say you believe—not just in church, but at home, at work, in relationships, and in everyday decisions.
The world does not need people who simply repeat religious language. It needs people who know Christ, love truth, walk in faith, and carry hope. When you know who Jesus is, you can live with peace even when the world feels unstable.
So today, hear the question again: “Who do you say that I am?” Let your answer be more than words. Let it become the foundation of your life.
