You are not forgotten, overlooked, or without purpose. You are made in God’s image, crowned with glory and honor, and called to walk boldly in the value He placed on you. — Psalm 8:5
Psalm 8 reminds us of something beautiful: every person has value because every person was made by God, in the image of God. We are not accidents. We are not overlooked. We are not meaningless. The God who made the heavens, the moon, the stars, and everything we see also made us with purpose.
David looked up at the sky and was amazed by God’s greatness. He saw the beauty of creation and asked, in simple terms, “God, why do You even think about us?” Compared to the vastness of the universe, people can seem so small. Yet Psalm 8 gives us an incredible answer: God does not see us as small or worthless. He crowns us with glory and honor.
Psalm 8:5–8 says that God made human beings a little lower than the heavenly beings, crowned them with glory and honor, and gave them responsibility over the works of His hands. That means our worth does not come from our job title, our bank account, our popularity, our past, or what other people think of us. Our worth comes from the One who created us.
To be “crowned” means God has placed dignity on us. He has given us honor. He has given us a role in His world. This does not mean we are above God or equal to God. It means we are loved by God, known by God, and trusted with responsibility. We are called to care for what He has made and to treat people with the same dignity He has given them.
This truth should change the way we see ourselves. You are not just surviving another day. You are someone God thought about, formed, and crowned with purpose. Even when life makes you feel low, forgotten, or unimportant, God’s Word says you carry glory and honor because you bear His image.
It should also change the way we see others. Every person we meet is someone God made. Every person has value. Every person deserves respect. If God crowns people with glory and honor, then we should not tear them down with our words, dismiss them because they are different, or treat them as if they do not matter.
Psalm 8 also reminds us that God’s majesty is seen in creation. The heavens declare His glory. The world around us points back to Him. But the amazing thing is this: the same God whose glory is higher than the heavens is mindful of us. He is powerful enough to rule creation and personal enough to care for His children.
So today, walk in the truth of who God says you are. You are made in His image. You are crowned with glory and honor. You have purpose in this world. And because your crown comes from the majestic, sovereign Ruler of creation, no person, failure, or circumstance has the power to take away the value God has placed on you.
Reflection: Lord, help me to see myself and others the way You do. Teach me to walk with humility, gratitude, and purpose, remembering that every person is made in Your image and crowned with glory and honor.
