The main thing must be the main thing. And for every follower of Jesus, the main thing is the gospel: the good news that Jesus came to save sinners, bring people back to God, and send His people out to share that message with the world.
Somewhere along the way, it is easy for church life to become full of activities, programs, opinions, and routines. Those things may have their place, but they must never replace the true mission Jesus gave us. He did not tell us to stay comfortable. He said, “Go.” He told His followers to preach the gospel to every creature, make disciples of all nations, baptize them, teach them, and be His witnesses through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Rediscovering the true gospel means getting back to what Jesus actually commanded. It means remembering that people need more than encouragement, entertainment, or religion. People need Jesus. They need to hear that He died, rose again, forgives sin, changes lives, and gives eternal hope to everyone who believes and follows Him.
In Mark 16:15, Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the gospel. In Matthew 28:19-20, He said to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey His words. In Acts 1:7-8, He reminded His followers that the power to do this work comes from the Holy Spirit, not from human strength alone. And in Luke 14:23, we see the heart of God: His house should be filled. He wants people to come in.
The gospel is not just a church message; it is a rescue message. It is not only for pastors, preachers, or missionaries. It is for every believer to carry in everyday life: at home, at work, in the neighborhood, in conversations, in acts of love, and in bold words spoken with kindness.
We must ask ourselves honest questions: Are we keeping Jesus at the center? Are we more focused on church habits than lost souls? Are we making fans of religion or disciples of Christ? Are we relying on our own ability, or are we depending on the Holy Spirit?
To rediscover the true gospel is to return to simple obedience. Go. Tell. Invite. Teach. Disciple. Love. Baptize. Witness. Keep the message clear: Jesus saves, Jesus changes lives, and Jesus is coming again.
The main thing must be the main thing. Let us not be distracted from the mission Jesus gave us. Let us carry the true gospel with humble hearts, willing feet, and Spirit-filled boldness until every person we can reach has heard the good news.
