The Light Still Shines

John 1:5 (KJV): “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it.” This simply means that no matter how dark life gets, God’s light is still stronger.

Think about walking into a dark room and turning on a small lamp. The darkness does not argue with the light. It cannot push the light back or put it out. As soon as the light appears, the darkness has to move.

In the same way, Jesus brings truth, hope, love, and life into a world that can feel full of fear, pain, confusion, and wrong. Darkness may not understand the light. Some people may reject it, ignore it, or try to hide from it. But they cannot defeat it.

This is good news for us. When we feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure of what comes next, we can remember that darkness is never the end of the story. Even a little light makes a difference. A kind word, a prayer, an honest choice, or an act of love can shine into someone’s difficult day.

We do not have to understand everything to trust the light. We only need to keep walking toward it and let it shine through us. The darkness may be real, but it is not more powerful. The light still shines—and the darkness cannot put it out.

So today, choose to keep shining. Even when life feels heavy, your faith, kindness, and love can carry God’s light into places that need it most. The darkness may surround you, but it cannot overcome the light within you.
