““Don’t spend all your life playing it safe! Safety is very comfortable, but it may be keeping you from [your] purpose,” said Joyce Meyer, German playright and poet. In simple words, we should not spend our lives only trying to stay safe, comfortable, and out of trouble. The greater danger is reaching the end and realizing we never truly lived with courage, purpose, or faith.
There comes a time when ordinary people must rise up and do what is right. We may not feel strong. We may not feel ready. We may think our part is too small to matter. But history often turns because someone decided to take one faithful step. Sometimes the small part we play is the very part God uses to turn the tide.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” That means we do not have to wait for a perfect moment, a perfect plan, or a perfect version of ourselves. If something is right, the time to do it is now.
Every generation has needed people who were willing to stand when others sat down, speak when others stayed silent, and believe when others gave up. The heroes of faith were not great because they were naturally powerful. They were great because they trusted a powerful God. They did not focus on how small they were. They focused on how big God is.
Too often, we disqualify ourselves. We say we are too old, too young, too weak, too uneducated, too tired, or too broken. But those thoughts come when we look at ourselves as the source. God has never needed perfect people to do powerful things. He often uses the weak to humble the strong and the simple to confound the wise.
This may be one of the greatest opportunities of our lives to see what God can do. Great victories do not come without great battles. If the darkness seems stronger, then the call for faith is greater. If the pressure is heavier, then our stand matters even more.
Maybe we have failed before. Maybe we have backed down when we should have stood up. Maybe fear has silenced us in the past. But yesterday does not have to define today. The door of courage is still open. Now is the time to decide that we will no longer retreat before darkness.
We must take our stand and refuse to surrender another inch to fear, compromise, or unbelief. This victory will not come because we are the strongest, smartest, youngest, richest, or most qualified. It will come through people who believe in the God for whom nothing is impossible.
If we keep our eyes on ourselves, we will always find a reason to quit. But if we see God as He truly is—above every ruler, every power, every fear, and every enemy—we will find the courage to keep going. If He has sent us, we are not alone. If He is with us, we cannot fail in what He has called us to do.
So let this be the moment we arise. Let this be the day we stop living small, stop hiding behind excuses, and stop fearing the cost of obedience. A safe life is not always a faithful life. A comfortable life is not always a meaningful life. We were made for more than survival. We were made to live with purpose, courage, and faith.
Now is the time. Now is the day. Let the heroes of faith arise.
