Part 2: The Warning Against Pretending
Galatians 6:7 also warns us about hypocrisy. Hypocrisy means acting one way on the outside while living a different way on the inside. It is pretending to be faithful, loving, or honest while secretly choosing the opposite.
In plain words: we cannot pretend to follow God while ignoring His ways. God knows the difference between a real heart and a religious mask.
- It is like going to church on Sunday but treating people cruelly the rest of the week.
- It is like talking about generosity but refusing to help anyone when you can.
- It is like saying we trust God while choosing dishonesty, pride, or bitterness.
People may only see the outside, but God sees the whole picture. That truth should not only warn us; it should also invite us to live honestly and humbly before Him.
What This Teaches Us About God
This verse teaches us several simple but important truths about God:
- God knows everything. He sees our thoughts, choices, motives, and hidden places. Nothing is hidden from Him.
- God is fair. He does not ignore good or evil. He sees what is right, and He also sees what is wrong.
- God cannot be manipulated. We cannot trick Him with words, appearances, or religious behavior.
- God is holy. He is pure, good, and worthy of respect. We should not treat Him lightly.
The Good News: We Can Choose Better Seeds
Galatians 6:7 is serious, but it is not meant to leave us hopeless. It is also an encouragement. If bad choices can grow into painful results, then good choices can grow into blessings. By God’s grace, we can start planting better seeds today.
The seed time is now. The harvest comes later. That means what we do today matters, even if we do not see the results right away.
- Keep doing good, even when no one notices.
- Tell the truth, even when lying would be easier.
- Be kind, even when people are difficult.
- Help when you have the chance.
- Ask God for strength when you feel weak.
Practical Ways to Live This Out
Here are a few simple ways to apply this truth in daily life:
- Pause and ask, “What kind of seed am I planting with this choice?”
- If you make a mistake, do not cover it up. Admit it, ask forgiveness, and make it right where you can.
- Pay attention to your habits. Small things repeated over time become big things.
- Treat people the way you want your life to grow—with honesty, mercy, patience, and respect.
- Do not get discouraged when good results take time. Seeds do not grow overnight.
Final Thoughts: Make Your Choices Count
No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. But Galatians 6:7 reminds us not to live carelessly or pretend that our choices do not matter. God sees us clearly, and He calls us to live honestly.
“Be not deceived, God is not mocked” is not just a warning. It is a loving reminder that life has direction. What we plant today shapes what we harvest tomorrow. So plant wisely. Plant kindness. Plant truth. Plant faith. Plant love. And trust God with the harvest.
