God once spoke through the prophet Jeremiah and said, “Behold, the days are coming.” In simple words, God was saying, “A time is coming when I am going to do something new for My people.” That promise was about a new covenant — a new way for people to know God, walk with God, and be forgiven by God.
Today, we are living in those promised days. God has kept His word through the coming of His Son, Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, God established the covenant of grace. That means our relationship with God is not built on our ability to be perfect, keep every rule, or earn His love. It is built on what Jesus has already done for us through His life, death, and resurrection.
Under the old covenant, God’s law was written on tablets of stone. But in the new covenant, God says He will write His law on our hearts. This means He changes us from the inside out. He does not just tell us what is right; He gives us a new heart, a new desire, and the help of His Spirit so we can love Him and follow Him.
This is the beauty of grace: God does for us what we could never do for ourselves. He forgives our sins, remembers them no more, and welcomes us as His people. We do not come to Him because we have cleaned ourselves up first. We come because Jesus opened the door, paid the price, and made a way for us to belong to God.
Jeremiah said that in this new covenant, people would know the Lord “from the least of them to the greatest.” That means God’s grace is not just for a special group of people. It is for everyone who believes — young and old, rich and poor, strong and weak, Jew and Gentile. Through Jesus, all are invited to know God personally.
So when we talk about the covenant of grace, we are talking about God’s promise fulfilled in Christ. We are talking about mercy instead of condemnation, forgiveness instead of guilt, and relationship instead of distance. We are talking about a God who did not give up on His people, but came near to save them.
These are the days God promised. The new covenant has come. Grace has been revealed. Jesus has opened the way. And now, every person who trusts in Him can say with confidence: He is my God, I am His child, my sins are forgiven, and His Word is written on my heart.
