God loves people, and He does not want us to live confused, misled, or spiritually weak. He wants us to know Him, trust Him, and stand strong in His truth. When we do not grow in the knowledge of God and His Word, it can become easier to believe what people say more than what God says.
The Bible gives us this serious warning: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). This verse reminds us that God’s people suffer when they forget His Word, reject His truth, or stop seeking Him. But this warning is also an invitation. God is calling us closer so we can know Him, remember His ways, and walk in wisdom.
Knowing God is not just about having information. Jesus said, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3). The knowledge of God gives life. It helps our hearts stay close to Him and keeps us from drifting away.
Human wisdom can sound right because it is often based on feelings, opinions, culture, or personal experience. But God’s wisdom is higher, safer, and more dependable. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” God is not shaming us for needing help. He is lovingly showing us where true help comes from.
God’s Word gives light when the world feels loud and confusing. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Jesus also prayed, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17). When we spend time in Scripture, we learn to recognize what is true and what does not agree with God’s heart.
Paul reminded believers that our faith should not rest “on human wisdom, but on God’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:5). This is good news. Our faith does not have to be held up by changing opinions, trends, or pressure from others. When our hearts are rooted in God’s Word, we can stand with peace and confidence because God’s truth does not change.
Colossians 2:8 warns us not to be taken captive by empty and deceptive ideas that come from human tradition instead of Christ. This means we must stay close to Jesus and keep growing in His Word. The more we know Him, the better we can discern what is helpful, what is harmful, and what does not line up with His truth.
God wants His people to be filled with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9). He is not hiding truth from us. He invites us to seek Him, ask for wisdom, and grow day by day. James 1:5 tells us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God, and He gives generously.
In simple words, when we do not know God’s Word, we may look somewhere else for answers. But God lovingly gives us His truth so we do not have to live confused or depend only on human wisdom. As we grow in knowing Him, we can stand firm, think clearly, and follow Him faithfully with confidence.
Let us keep coming back to God’s Word with humble and willing hearts. His truth strengthens us, corrects us, comforts us, and guides us safely through every season. When we choose to trust what God says over what the world says, we are not standing in our own strength. We are standing on the unchanging truth of the One who loves us, keeps us, and leads us faithfully.
Prayer
Lord, help us to love Your Word, trust Your truth, and seek Your wisdom every day. Strengthen our hearts so we will not be confused or led away by human wisdom, but will stand firm in You with faith, peace, and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
